Apr. 13, 1997 -- Trent Klatt's PPG with 1:34 to play completed an impressive rally as the Flyers recorded a 5-4 home win in the regular season finale. The Flyers trailed 4-1 with about 14 minutes remaining. Goals by Eric Lindros (1-1-2) and Rod Brind'Amour (1-1-2) got Philly to within 4-3 then John LeClair's 50th goal tied the score with 4:07 to play. The Flyers out-scored NJ 4-0 and held a 15-6 shots advantage in the third period. Garth Snow (9 saves, 9 shots) replaced Ron Hextall (7 saves, 11 shots) at the 13:54 mark of the second period and shut out NJ the rest of the game. John MacLean (2-2-4) had four points and Mike Dunham made 33 saves. The Devils lost Dave Andreychuk with a fractured left ankle (he played in just one PO game) while being hooked by Janne Niinimaa; NJ made it 4-1 during that PP.

  • November 27, 2010 -- Travis Zajac scored the SO winner (2-1) in NJ's 2-1 home win. The Flyers led the shootout 1-0 when Nikolay Zherdev scored in the third round but Jason Arnott tied it. Johan Hedberg made 40 saves and was 3-for-4 in the shootout and was selected the game's top star. Danny Briere tied the game with a PPG midway in the third period. Philly held a 41-25 shots advantage including 28-11 combined in the second and third periods. The game totalled 10 PIMs. It was the second straight shootout loss for the Flyers in as many days leading Blair Betts to say “You can feel it (lack of passion). The atmosphere was light and there wasn’t enough emotion or intensity, even before we went on the ice. You kind of felt it yesterday against Calgary and it’s something we have to fix.” Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30S83syc1ds
  • December 4, 2010 --Mike Richards (1-1-2, +3), who scored the tie-breaking goal 3:37 into the third period, and Jeff Carter (1-2-3) were the game's top two stars in Philly's 5-3 home win. Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves including a key stop on Ilya Kovalchuk's breakaway with the score tied 2-2. Kovalchuk earlier scored his second goal in the past 17 games. The Devils' PP was 1-for-43 on the road but went 2-for-3 in this game including making the score 4-3 with 44 seconds to play. The Flyers' struggling PP went 0-for-3 and fell into a 2-for-41 slump. Philly dominated the second period 14-4 on shots and scored the lone goal to tie the game 2-2. In the third, the Flyers scored three times including Carter's ENG. Hartnell's second goal tied the game 2-2 with 1:06 remaining in the middle period. David Clarkson gave the Devils a 2-1 lead with 2:20 left in the second period, a goal confirmed by video replay after play had continued. Matt Carle added two assists. Brian Boucher made 18 saves and improved to 8-1-1, with a 2.07 GAA and .929 save percentage in his last 10 starts. Each team had 20 shots, Philly had a 7-2 advantage in the second period and the Devils had an 11-6 edge in the third period despite being out-scored 2-0. The Devils entered the game with the NHL's worst record (14-29-3), but 4-0-1 in the last five, while the Flyers' led the NHL with a 31-11-5 mark. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz1RYsykhqs
  • April 1, 2011 -- Patrik Elias (3-0-3) scored his eighth career hat trick, Brian Rolston (0-3-3) assisted on each goal and Johan Hedberg made 34 saves in NJ's 4-2 home win. Parise and Adam Henrique (1-1-2), his first NHL goal, tied it 11:57 into the second period. NJ held a 21-9 shots advantage in the second period and 39-23 in the game. Max Talbot's penalty shot goal made it 3-2 in the third period. David Clarkson tied it 3-3 with 7:35 left off a turnover in the Flyers' zone. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OgG5TabYmM

we have so many holes.
1. Bryzgalov
2. Our D and turnovers
3. Scoring slump.
4. Average coaching decisions during the game.

I hope we are prepared for this weekend.

Laviolette and Giroux had a conversation regarding Giroux's play of late.... per Sam @ Inq.

Giroux prefers same line mates.

Krishna 01-20-2012 12:04 PM

Jinx thread for the shutout.

FlyersFan61290 01-20-2012 12:21 PM

Great work MSE as usual.

Nice bounce back game is what i'm looking for. Sure a win would be great but in all honesty after last nights game i just want to see them play a good all around game. specifically i think they need to concentrate on team def. we can talk all we want about the d-corps but the forwards have not been doing enough on the back check. Go Flyers!!

MiamiScreamingEagles 01-20-2012 12:25 PM

^ Thank you.

Sam @ Inq. updated and said no changes to the top line would be made.

of course not..

why make any changes when something is clearly not working at the moment..

things like this make me /facepalm at Lavi.

seriously why not try rotating some different players onto that top line for a few games and see what happens

Beef Invictus 01-20-2012 12:35 PM

I think Lavi is going to give them through this weekend. If they continue to fail producing someone is going to be shifted.

I think they're on a shorter leash. He might give them till the mid way point of this game to show they can continue playing together.

Marty's in goal, you won't be getting shutout! This is the longest he's gone in a season without a shutout.

Good luck tomorrow, but not too much luck.

Cause he can't just keep changing things the second they don't work. If that happens then lines will never stay intact. Relax, plus I'm sure the coaching staff knows how to run a team better than we do.

My guess is that he will play tomorrow. The injury supposedly had subsided prior to yesterday's game but he was likely scratched for precautionary reasons.

MrHockey1982 01-20-2012 02:48 PM

I will be at this one and I think it will be close to the section behind Brodeur. I will do my best to distract him lol! Let's go Flyers!!!:handclap:

mirimon 01-20-2012 05:31 PM

Bounce back game, please. Shut them the hell out. Jagr with a hat trick.

Carolina-NJ trade:

After a 3-0 win over the Washington Capitals, the Canes traded forward Alexei Ponikarovsky to the New Jersey Devils for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012 and minor-league defenseman Joe Sova

The Canes signed Ponikarovsky to a one-year, $1.5 million contract over the summer. He had seven goals and eight assists in 49 games for the Hurricanes.
