What kind of Potential does Cody Hodgson have?

With his absolutely great year he is having so far.

(on pace for 50 points 25 goals with 13min ice time as a rookie).

What kind of future do you guys think the kid has in his prime?.

InfinityIggy 01-21-2012 10:39 PM

2nd Line C who can go 30-30 in most seasons.

Forest Whitaker 01-21-2012 10:41 PM

60-70 points. Solid first liner, depending on depth.

chopkins 01-21-2012 10:47 PM

A few PPG seasons. He's shown that potential over the past 20ish games. It's only a hot streak but it's showing what he's capable of.

WhiskeyYourTheDevils 01-21-2012 11:11 PM

Poor man's parise. 60 point guy with a solid 2 way game. His skating has improved a ton over the last few years.

nowhereman 01-21-2012 11:39 PM

PPG first line center. This kid's hockey smarts and vision are off the charts and he seems to have a really good nose for the net.

TOML 01-22-2012 12:07 AM

Need to increase his qualcomp before you know. But it's good he's been brought in slowly.

He doesn't have elite anything, but has a solid everything. 2nd line center.

TOML

PoolChamp 01-22-2012 12:09 AM

He has elite hockey sense for sure.

To be overhyped by Vancouver fans

IBLeaf* 01-22-2012 12:12 AM

Dumb options, but I guess 65 point 2 way player.

So other?

Endersoldier 01-22-2012 12:56 AM

Maybe he'll hit ppg in a season, but I think that will be the exception. He'll probably be a regular 60 point guy with solid two-way play, can't complain about that.

Gritzky98 01-22-2012 01:40 AM

50-60 point 2/3rd liner

I Hate Chris Butler 01-22-2012 02:15 AM

Kesler-lite. Maybe PPG in a career year.

What world are you living in ?

30-30-60 is usually good for 19-30th in the league amount centre. And 30 goals is always top-10 a/ centre.

2nd line C would be something like 20-20.

People doesn't get it I think.

In our days, 2nd liner doesn't get 60pts. They get 35-45.

But his speed and creativity is sadly not. I voted 65 points.

That is what most Canucks fans are expecting him to eventually become, but he's already on pace for 50 points in his rookie season that's a very pleasant surprise

60 points is easily top 30 production for centres, but I agree with the guy and view the term "1st line" not with production but to classify clear-cut first line centres in most cases in playoff teams.

When we say we'd be ecstatic if Hodgson becomes a 2nd line centre, I don't think we have 35-45 point production in mind. More like 25 goals 65 points

LiquidSnake 01-22-2012 03:03 AM

I dont understand the 70 points "selke" player

and the 60 point two way player.

What's the difference?

I dont understand how 10 points is the difference in a selke quality player. But whatever.

You're misunderstanding the options.

10 points is the difference between 60 and 70 points.
His defensive abilities are the difference between being a two-way player and a two-way Selke candidate.

overtherainbow 01-22-2012 04:09 AM

80Points 1st liner.

His ES production is respectable and his PP production is amazing, great vision and a great shot. He is tied PP points with players like

Kris Letang
Marian Gaborik
Johan Franzen
Sergei Gonchar

while playing on the 2nd Unit PP in Van.

Don't think his defense is anything special right now. Needs a chance to develop that part of his game.

Kulemon 01-22-2012 08:54 AM

60 point solid second liner similar to mikhail grabovski production wise

GreatStateofHockey 01-22-2012 09:23 AM

75 Points + Selke nominee.

Either he or Kesler should play wing.

Jobal 01-22-2012 09:29 AM

Huh? I'm a little confused here... Hodgson isn't a liability on defense, but I wouldn't say he's great at it either.

What's all this "2 way" player talk? I think he'll end up averaging 60-70 points with about half of them goals.
