Devin Setoguchi

What would it take for the Wild to move him this season?

DekeLikeYouMeanIt 01-22-2012 03:29 PM

Considering he's pretty much the only healthy forward for them, the world and a half.

D U M B A 01-22-2012 03:54 PM

This is a hard one to gauge for me. I value Setoguchi more than the average Wild fan on HFBoards.

If we were to trade him during the season (going by your avatar to Pittsburgh for example), we'd probably ask for more than you want to give up (Starting with one of your highly touted defensive prospects and adding from there). A lot of that reason is because the Wild aren't looking to trade Setoguchi.

We're the worst team in the league when it comes to scoring, we need this guy going forward. Especially dealing with the unknown futures of our injured wingers.

What would it take to get Seto for the Rangers?

bigwillie 01-22-2012 03:59 PM

Wild should hold onto him. He's still really streaky, and Sharks fans said this for years but it's still true, but if he finds consistency he'll be one hell of a player. He's a terror to play against when he's on.

Niskanen+1st?

pld459666 01-22-2012 04:29 PM

From the Rangers

Erixon, Thomas and the NYR 2nd rounder in 2012

Billy Mays Here 01-22-2012 05:10 PM

Considering he hasn't even played a full season in Minnesota yet I doubt he gets moved. Because of injuries the lines are constantly being juggled around which makes finding consistency difficult for any player, not just Seto. It would take a good amount of overpayment to get him.

Rather hang onto the 1st, but would move Niskanen, Tangradi, 2nd for him.

SEALBound 01-22-2012 06:12 PM

Too much. Nisky for Seto straight up is what would have to happen...perhaps even Seto + mid prospect.

Niskanin is playing too well for us right now though, IMHO. If we trade him that means we have a hole in the defense that needs filled. If they would take Tangradi + 3rd, that'd be better. But Lovejoy - Engelland isn't going to cut it in the playoffs.

Nighthock 01-22-2012 06:16 PM

Marty Havlat ... ;)

Havlat was traded for Heatley straight up, not part of the Setoguchi/Burns deal, if that's what you're getting at.

Nah, I'd love to get James Sheppard back. :sarcasm:

Sheppard has been too valuable this season. He's more untouchable than Couture. :naughty:

The Zetterberg Era 01-22-2012 06:29 PM

I wouldn't move this guy if I was Minnesota, he has a very nice contract. But if they do, I pray that he doesn't wind up on anybody the Wings play in the playoffs, this guy kills us.

Ill start the car and drive them all there for Seto'.

But I DOUBT Minni takes this deal. Erixon might turn into a good player for us. Thomas I am not sold on at ALL. The 2nd is good value being such a strong draft (its like a late first rounder in other years drafts).

But hey, if they are stupid enough to bite on this.. I AM ALL IN!

Niskanen was trash in Dallas and it doesn't make him any more valuable now that he is on the Pens. 1st round pick is nice though.

Wild say No.

I'm not saying I'd take the trade but who do you value more between Erixon and Del Zotto?

1st for Setoguchi plus a warm body in Niskanen is great.

What "it"? The fact that he turned his game around and is playing solid all-around this year?

I would imagine that would make him more valuable. So valuable, in fact, that most Pens fans would prefer to keep him and deal Martin to open up cap space.

He's turned his game around. Needed a change of atmosphere. Has been one of our more reliable d-men this year when injuries hit. His poor play in recent years will help you resign him at a bargain as a rfa.
