Henrik Lundqvist - Countdown to 10 Shutouts

Lundqvist is nearly on pace for 10 shutouts this season. Can he do it?

5 to go!

MillerTime2181 01-24-2012 09:22 PM

Absolute BEST goalie int the league!! Vezina this year for sure and he deserves it. Lundqvist rocks!! :handclap::yo:

Hockey Team 01-24-2012 09:22 PM

He's on pace for 8...

I think he'll do 8

Muh 01-24-2012 09:29 PM

I'll give him 10, he's been killing it this year.

He had 10 last year right?

Tonight was his fifth of the year. So he's one pace for just over 9. Will he do that? I doubt it, but who knows. I imagine Torts will rest him well down the stretch, assuming we continue to play well and are at or near the top.

Just astonishing to me, always felt he was amazing and this year he is just putting it away. Closest thing to a Hasek/Roy/Brodeur this generation will see and in the end might be up there with them. :yo:

He had 11 last year. Also had 10 in 2007-2008.

BlueshirtBlitz 01-24-2012 09:34 PM

He has to win the Vezina this year.

:banghead: Didn't we start this for Gabby and he hit a cold-streak?

What a jinx thread. lol

Jabroni1994 01-24-2012 09:59 PM

Do you think he could get to 100 by the end of his career?

I do, but it really depends on how long he plays.

I think he could be a decent goalie into his late 30's, early 40's.

Actually Gabby went on fire after it was first made. Then hit a cold streak.

The only thing that's not related to the team that has any bearing on how they do is my lucky beard.

We broke out of our terrible October after I started growing it and I haven't shaved since. :D

IBleedNYRBlue 01-24-2012 10:04 PM

Would be awesome if he can end up with under 2.00 GAA, 93+ SV%, and 10 SOs.

How did you come up with over 9?

I calculated 8.72

(5 / 36) * 82 * (36/47)

I rounded down since I'm assuming he'll get less starts to rest him for the postseason.

We had the same thread last year and he did fine.

I don't understand people's jinx stuperstitions here.

It's really.... stuper...

Hockey Team 01-24-2012 11:39 PM

Btw, remember when people were saying we should trade lundqvist and have chad johnson be our starter?

One of the stupidest posts ever...

OverTheCap 01-24-2012 11:54 PM

I think he could do it. He's playing the best hockey of his career, so why not? And it's not like he hasn't done it before.

On that note, a Lundqvist "countdown to 10 shutouts" thread doesn't really bother me but I do have a minor ax to grind with the Gaborik "countdown to 50 goals" thread, and it has little to do with jinxes. Why? Because Lundqvist has shown that he can post 10 shutouts in a season and Gaborik has yet to show that he can score 50 goals in a season. "Countdown to 40" seems more apt because we know he can achieve it. So far "the countdown to 50" threads have always ended in disappointment.

Lol haha I remember those. Lundqvist was going through some sort of slump if I remember and some of the fans quickly turned on him and demanded trading him and have the younger and hungrier Chad Johnson take over.:laugh:

Killem Dafoe 01-25-2012 02:14 AM

he could definitely get 10 but i don't think it'll be that high. i'm hoping though.

Yeah that thread was comedy gold.

I dont think he gets 10 this year. He'll get fair bit of rest down the stretch. Well he should anyways.

SwedishBullet62 01-25-2012 06:44 AM

i think he'll get 8, torts will deffinitally be resting him down the stretch, and those teams like the jets that he has a better chance at shutting out biron will likely play.

Chalfdiggity3 01-25-2012 07:51 AM

I think hes going to end up with 10 exactly.. If our defense can continue to get healthy, we have one of the best young defensive corps in the league along with the team defense concept and Henriks great consistent play, who knows he could go on a steak after the allstar break, maybe some trades to shore up the defense or boost offensive play and you never know.

I think he already has 40 shutouts to his career.. How many does Brodeur have?

Jonimaus 01-25-2012 08:11 AM

116 + 23.

bumrusherer 01-25-2012 08:25 AM

As long as he saves a bunch of them for the playoffs, I dont mind how many more he has this reg season.

It is amazing how he continues to improve though. What is the next level after consistently great?

Brodeur has 116 career shutouts.

I definitely think Lundqvist can get 100.
