Is there a team you're rooting AGAINST?

Obviously most of us in this group are rooting for the Kings.

Is there any team, probably NON-RIVAL like eastern teams or west who is no where near contending, who you're rooting against hard? One where you hope they tank so bad that they blow up and hopefully we can get in on the dealing away of key vets?

The most obvious one would be New Jersey so that they maybe trade us Zach Parise. Another obvious one is for us to root against Anaheim, who we root against anyway, in hopes of getting Selanne and/or Koivu (forget the big 3). But are there any that aren't as obvious?

For example, to me, the one player we really could have used would have been Brad Richards. He can score but more importantly he is a playmaker who makes 15 goal scorers into possibly 30 goal scorers. He can make a line almost by himself and help draw top defenders away from our other lines. So I kinda root against the Rangers although the chance of him getting dealt is remote...but that team is loaded with all sorts of guys we can use.

Dallas is another team where I hope Kari Lehtonen falls back to the Earth and that team becomes a perennial barely out of the playoffs and only gets like the 7th pick in the draft (like where the Kings were under Dave Taylor). Dallas has a few players we could really use, like Loui Eriksson in a wet dream and then you wake up, lol.

Right but they're a rival and is there someone you're looking for from their team to be dealt to us?

Mostly because I just despise their teams, but I root heavily against the Devils, Flyers, and Penguins. They all have great offensive players that the Kings could use. Parise, Malkin, Neal, Giroux, Read. The Flyers will never be bad enough, though. They are always there every year so I will just root for them to be embarrassed in the playoffs.

Then again maybe the Flyers will be stupid enough one day to trade away Giroux. They've done it to like every other superstar. Sorry, I'm really bitter.

Did you use to be a Flyer fan? I might be confusing you with someone else.

Any Canadian team, particularly Montreal, Pens, The Aves, Blackhawks, Flyers, Caps, and the Blues(only because I don't want the Kings to be the last '67 team without a Cup).

Yeah. I watched one team after another since the day I was born go to the playoffs without a decent goaltender and lose every time. Then they would trade away great, loyal flyers players and it just ticked me off more and more. I kept seeing superstars who deserved a cup waste their careers because the team management could care less about developing a defensive core and scraped the bottom of the trash can for a goaltender every year. Not to even mention the media and the things they say about the players (Lindros slept with Brinda'mour's wife, Carter slept with Hartnell's wife).

When I saw what they did to Richards and Carter, and basically threw all the blame on their 'partying ways' rather than the fact that they were rotating three goaltenders in the playoffs (Boucher, Bobrovsky, and Leighton, and they actually made it to the second round? Holy ****), I was done. I'm not rooting for a team with that kind of management anymore.

Vancouver. Hate their fans, hate their team. Any group of players/fans/management that whines as much as they do doesn't deserve success.

RonSwanson* 01-29-2012 12:13 AM

Vancouver. I hate pretty much everything about that franchise.

Ok so we all have teams we hate normally but who do you want to see tank so we can get a player of theirs??

Think of this as an exercise where we throw out there players we may want to make proposals for on this board if said team is about to not make the playoffs.

Canucks. I absolutely despise them. Pure hatred.

I wouldn't hate them so much if it wasn't for their fans. They feel the NHL owes them something. It's the NHL, referees, every other teams fans, the earths gravitation, the high price of oil vs. the Canucks. They talk like the Canucks have actually won not just one, but multiple Cups. Oh, and the diving. My bloody christ, the diving and whining from that team.
Plus, where were all these Canucks fans during the Messier years? Oh, right, most of them didn't give a **** about the team.

etherialone 01-29-2012 01:05 AM

There are 29 teams I am rooting against.

Honestly, I want each of them to fail for different reasons but most of all I only want us to win the cup.

The teams that I root against the least are the Blackhawks and the Islanders but only so much.

BD33 01-29-2012 01:09 AM

Vancouver for sure I never root for them to win a game. And to a slightly lesser degree the Flyers, Stars, and Canadiens.

Seventyx7 01-29-2012 01:22 AM

Off topic, I hate SJ the most.

On topic, I like to see Buffalo struggle, only because they have players I like that I think would make good Kings; Pominville, Stafford, Vanek, maybe Roy.

Jason Lewis 01-29-2012 01:42 AM

I would **** in my pants if we had Pominville and/or Vanek

The former wouldn't be that hard to get, the latter...forget it. IMO, neither player would fit our team though...except maybe Vanek would click with Mike Richards...with Loktionov, it could be explosive!

Nucks

Rorschach 01-29-2012 01:46 AM

OT but...

Do you guys now consider Vancouver a rival? It seems like at least for the next several years we'll probably have to face them in the playoffs whether in round 1, 2 or 3 to come out of the west. They're the new Detroit in terms of inevitability of facing that team in the west.

Jason Lewis 01-29-2012 02:05 AM

San Jose is more of a rival then Vancouver. People just hate Vancouver cause it's Vancouver I think.

KingPuckChoo 01-29-2012 02:20 AM

1- Montreal Canadiens
2- Vancouver Canucks
