If the Kings, Hawks, or Canucks get Nash, I'm going to start breaking things. Hopefully this isn't one of the few times Eklund is right.

The Sabres are very interested in the King's Dustin Brown and have had discussions regarding the matter.
Another gem from your link.

[MOD EDIT]

Seriously doubt that CHI wants anything to do with Nash.

LeafsandSharksfan 02-06-2012 02:53 PM

No thanks from the Leafs

Shellz 02-06-2012 02:54 PM

Seeing as there was a rumor by a Kings writer that tweeted it would take Johnson, Brown + picks/prospects...not going to happen. I'm sure there is interest, but that's how far it gets.

arsmaster 02-06-2012 02:57 PM

7.8 million for 65 points does not fit Vancouver's cap system.

Yea, I don't see how Chicago could afford him. Eklund also throws toronto in just about every rumour for some reason no one seems to know the answer to.:sarcasm:

I heard something similar.

It seems he's overrated on hfboards but massively overrated according to our GM. That is probably a good thing.

sharks9 02-06-2012 02:57 PM

If there's one rumour I want Eklund to be wrong about, it's that the Habs are going to be buyers.:shakehead:help:

Huntershin Karuk 02-06-2012 02:58 PM

His cap hit sucks.

Lucbourdon 02-06-2012 02:59 PM

Nash with the sedins would just be stupid lol

HiddenInLight 02-06-2012 03:00 PM

Eklund says the Sabres are getting Dustin Brown :sarcasm:

Luck 6 02-06-2012 03:00 PM

Don't worry, if the Canucks get Nash they'll be a much worse team as a result. Eklund is a complete idiot... How would the Canucks fit in a 7.8 million dollar contract? They'd have to send Luongo the other way, and there's no way he waives to goto Columbus.

CHI can't afford him. Unless it meant moving out Toews, Hossa, Sharp, or Kane. That won't happen...

Not to mention that Bowman is not allowed to take on any more big contracts.

The Canucks' prized package of Ballard, Raymond, and Schneider is equal to about $7.8 million. :sarcasm:

This,

do not want that cap hit on this team.:shakehead

kerjuxaxaxa 02-06-2012 03:07 PM

I wonder what it would take to bring him in Chicago.

Todds Chiropractory 02-06-2012 03:08 PM

Even though Nash is exactly what the Canucks top 6 needs, I can't see it working for the cap long term. Yea I'm sure they could squeeze him in for a run this year, and maybe another year after that. But unless the cap goes up by 3+mil over the next year or so it will be really tough to keep him around when guys like Hodgson/Edler are due for substantial raises. I suppose they could potentially "rent him" for a cup run and then ship him off to another team afterwards. And yes the Canucks offer would be the "Corey Perry Package" Schneider, Raymond and Ballard.

Edit: For Cap/Team Needs reasons the Canucks would probably want to include Maholtra and get a 4th line winger and bottom pairing defenseman coming back too, and depending on who it is picks/prospects could be going to CBJ too. Yea big trade!

Please, he'd put up 80 on the Canucks. The guy is playing with Antoine Vermette and Vinny Prospal.

ChrisFromVan 02-06-2012 03:10 PM

make it happen Gillis. I'd love to see him in blue and green!

Mr. Canucklehead 02-06-2012 03:11 PM

I'd love for the Canucks to get Nash, but I don't see it happening with our current cap structure. The Canucks will have approximately $2m in cap space at the deadline, and would therefore need to clear out about another $5.8m just to accomodate his AAV.

Couple that with the fact that we'd likely be gutting our future depth (which, for the first time in as long as I can remember, is actually looking fairly promising), and I just don't see it working out.

mapes 02-06-2012 03:12 PM

Personally I don't want Nash, unless he is cheap and no way Columbus doesn't receive overpayment for him, otherwise they will keep him.

Cogburn 02-06-2012 03:14 PM

If the Canucks land Nash, I will assume Gillis knows what he's doing and will just be excited we have him.

That being said, Raymond and Ballard have to go the other way to make it work, and Hodgson won't be included....possibly Schneider or other prospects of course though.
