salaries during lockout

just so i understand this, during lockout the owners do not have to pay the players salaries right? so if there is any good otu of this lockout, at least we don't have to pay cechmanek this whole year's salary. seeing that basturd get $3 mililon kills me. it's nice to see his contract burn off one year.

Sort of. There is an exception to the rule. If was injuried he is still getting payed. I think there is around 20 players that are still getting payed. No one else is getting payed.

Some other prominent injured players are Colorado's Adam Foote, Detroit's Jiri Fischer, Chicago's Tuomo Ruttu and Florida's Nathan Horton, but the list of 29 is more likely to shrink than expand. As soon as players are deemed fit to play, even though there are no NHL games to be played, they come off the injured list and become un-paid, locked out players, just like their brethren.
