28 scouts executives at the leaf/oiler game tonight

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun

Can you tell the trade deadline is approaching? Try 28 scouts/executives from 22 NHL teams here for Oilers-Leafs game tonight at ACC

I know there could be more from one team--but looks like we got a full house tonight in TO

jumptheshark 02-06-2012 05:05 PM

Mixture of east and west in a second tweet

joestevens29 02-06-2012 05:12 PM

I'd suspect this 3 game eastern road trip will be fairly busy for scouts scouting the Oil.

The Puck 02-06-2012 05:14 PM

I wouldn't read too much into it ... there are only 3 games on the schedule and the Leafs game is the only one in the east, so it's either Toronto, Phoenix, or Anaheim for the pro scouts/executives.

93gilmour93 02-06-2012 05:14 PM

For that many scouts to be at this game there has to be big enough players being dangled to get this much interest. It's not to see sutton or komisarek.:naughty:

Highbrow 02-06-2012 05:18 PM

To watch one of the most rumoured buyers and one of the sellers rumoured to be most active. That leaves some room for speculation.

Great One 02-06-2012 05:20 PM

Renney is not helping Tambellini showcase Sutton much if Oiler's management have plans of dealing him. Sutton is scratched tonight in place of Tom Gilbert.

Bubba88 02-06-2012 05:22 PM

what a surprise...

Johnny Bravo 02-06-2012 05:23 PM

This is the most scouts we have had at a game all year. Why sit Sutton? Unless we are showcasing gilbert.....

Gagnefan924 02-06-2012 05:27 PM

Obviously because they are only 3 games on tonight...

SolidSnakeUS 02-06-2012 05:27 PM

Please god hope that Homer is there looking at Schenn.

ranold26 02-06-2012 05:30 PM

inb4 the "22 teams play the Oilers and Leafs in the next week" comment.

22 teams represented AND it's a mix of Eastern and Western Conference teams? Wow! You don't say Pierre!

Loso 02-06-2012 05:30 PM

Doug Armstrong is attendance as per Bob McKenzie during Sportscenter.

Captain Smurf 02-06-2012 05:31 PM

Well, the Oil look to be sellers and Burke may be the most active GM in terms of discussing trades in the league. Not surprising that this game has a lot of scouts, but 22 teams! That's pretty impressive.

dbaz 02-06-2012 05:31 PM

obviously scouting the great gagner.

ZetterBurger 02-06-2012 05:32 PM

People know what Sutton can do. He could very well be included in a deal that is being finalized so the team he is going to wants him out. Not likely but Sutton is not a player that scouts need to watch a ton of.

Shrimper 02-06-2012 05:33 PM

Anyone know if there's any Pittsburgh representatives there?

KingBuzzo 02-06-2012 05:35 PM

Komi to the Hawks.

grits207 02-06-2012 05:37 PM

Bob McKenzie just said on TSN that there is "nothing going on with the Leafs" and that there is a good chance they will stand pat at the deadline, so you've gotta think most of those scouts are watching the Oilers.

Rooooooooooxxxanne* 02-06-2012 05:38 PM

It was the only way executives could get tickets to watch the Great One tonight... say they are "scouting" him.

Ziggy Stardust 02-06-2012 05:41 PM

Eh, there are lots of scouts based in that region.

Smid or Whitney would be good fits on the St. Louis blueline.

I think thats BS, frankly. Leafs have a log jam at defense, with Mike "Alternate Captain" Komisarek currently occupying the press box. Burke will move someone off the blue line.
