BOB vs. BRYZ (Game-By-Game Comparison)

As we all know, the debate about who should be the flyers #1 goalie is hot topic. However, looking at each goalie's recent play statistically, I believe (and hope) that Bryz has reclaimed the #1 goalie title and put end to this endless debate. I think that this is obiviously a huge factor into how far the flyers can go this season, so hopefully this trend continues...

These are each players numbers in their last 8 appearances...

BOB
GAA: 2.93 (22 goals against)
Sv Ptg: 90.5% (231 shots against)
1 or less goals against in a game: 1
3 or more goals against in a game: 4
opponents winning percentage: .505

BRYZ
GAA: 1.69 (13 GA)
Sv Ptg: 93.8% (208 SA)
1 or less goals against in a game: 6
3 or more goals against in a game: 2
oppents winning percentage: .529

For some reason they play better in front of Bob... I honestly think Bryz will get his act together and with some defensive help they'll make a strong run into the playoffs.

Vikke 02-10-2012 06:17 AM

As much as I've been bashing Bryz, he has looked a lot better the last month overall.

gto64dr 02-10-2012 07:18 AM

You're Kidding Right?

The team plays altogether different in front of Bob, with confidence. Bod plays the puck better, can actually win a shootout, and has had two clunker games. Bryz has had several clunkers. I can't believe one mediocre shutout that he lost in the shootout and you believe he's turned around his season. I prefer to wait and see.

Did you look at the OP?
look at the numbers.

Are you saying the team that gave up 17 shots Vs the Islanders wasn't "confident"?

Umm...I think we all want to see a bigger body of work from Bryz. But as the OP showed everyone...it was his last 8 games. Not just 1 game. How about we give him some credit that in the last 8 games, he has only given up 1 goal or less in 6 of them. That is impressive. And by my count, he has 2 more sutouts than any other Flyers goalie last year or this year(Bob). Poor season so far=yes. Good in his last 8 games=also yes.

Bryz has been playing pretty good lately. I think he is the Flyers best option right now and it looks like he could be slowly turning it around.

Stepanformayor* 02-10-2012 08:49 AM

Niether!! They both suck!!

Yep Stay with Bryz.

Jtown 02-10-2012 09:34 AM

Bryz is a completely diffrent player of late. He has let in some fluky and ill timed goals but compared to BOB he is the clear choice.
The more I See Bob play the less im convinced he can develop into the player we need him to be with the sporadic starts he gets.

sobrien 02-10-2012 11:55 AM

I'm not a fan of using arbitrary time periods to swing statistical arguments to one sides favor like this (to Bryz's favor), Bob has been the most consistent this year, is more confident, and more athletic. But now that Bryz seems mentally stable, he's been MUCH better and the team seems to be playing fine around him. And Lavy plays the hot hand, that's Bryz.

We just need one of them to beat New York. :shakehead

Devastate 02-10-2012 01:08 PM

Bryz is our number 1 goalie. Plain and simple. I'm a bob fan, but as long as bryz is playing like he has (save the rangers game), then I'm 110% on board.

I think attitude is the big difference between the two, but when Bryz is there mentally, he's a great goalie.

Alchemy 02-10-2012 01:51 PM

It doesn't really matter.

PL will ride the hot goalie for the stretch.

Legion of Giroux 02-10-2012 01:51 PM

Bryz will turn it around!!!!!!!

GKJ 02-10-2012 02:09 PM

Bryzgalov is slowly creeping up in GVT. He's finally above double digit negative integers.

funghoul 02-10-2012 10:29 PM

Finally, some of you bastids are getting behind our goalie. can we burn the other thread now?

Well, our goalie is only just starting to look like he's turning it around.

Devastate 02-11-2012 03:10 AM

I'd still like o see a little more fight out of Bryz. When Bob said "I don't care who's fault it is, I don't like giving up goals", he showed that his mind is in the right place. Gotta love his attitude and focus.

Better now than them getting good when they find out we aren't in the playoffs.

Scoopyten 02-11-2012 06:36 AM

Here's a novel idea-

ROOT FOR BOTH OF THEM!!

They both play for the Flyers, they both should be cheered for. It's idiotic to be Team Bryz or Team Bob. Root for both to do well.

SgtJoseph 02-11-2012 07:05 AM

I have no problem with either of them.......Bryz has looked fine to me of late, and BOB wins a lot more games than he loses ? .Considering all the injuries, starting 5 or 6 rookies each nigh, and our Offense missing on a TON of great scoring chances etc, Our club is still one of the better teams in the NHL.....Come playoff time this club just might be hell on wheels and right in the middle of it all.

I agree 100%.....I always pull for any player wearing a Flyers jersey....Many of whom even after they leave and play else where.
