Doesn't play much.

DAkings20 02-11-2012 07:28 PM

He didn't fight even when he played except the rare staged fight every now and then.

Good guy, useless NHL'er.

LAsusan 02-11-2012 07:31 PM

He thinks he's a goal scorer now. :sarcasm:

Look around the NHL, fighting among heavyweights has gone done. It's only time until teams don't want them anymore.

RAZZIE King 02-11-2012 08:24 PM

How the heck can he drop the gloves from the press box???

staged fights are fun too, he needs to do those though.

Didn't we grow up with the notion that when a player goes out of his way to take out one of the other team's better player that he will have to answer the bell of the other team's enforcer?

Granted, Drewiske isn't/wasn't one of our best players, but the only instance I can remember where either Ivanans or Westgarth has fought in defense of a fallen comrade was this:

Burke has a point in the sense that the players have to be able to police themselves, and this year we have certainly taken a step backwards.

Pretty sure Ivanans did that more than once, but yeah, Westgarth isn't mean :(

This is the era of players like Hartnell, aggressive and with better hands.

Shame he had to resort to punching on the back of the head. That's a no-no.

jonrazor12 02-13-2012 02:55 AM

DS asked him to play a more offensive role.

Westgarth protects our players WHEN he is playing. He has only played 24 out of 56.

Also, a lot of heavyweights are in the AHL this year. Westgarth is better suited for Eastern Confernance match ups or division games in the West. No point in playing him against Detroit, Colorado...they don't have heavies...but Minny has Kassian now, Parros is back in Anaheim, Dallas has Godard in the minors, Phoenix has Bissonette, Columbus had Boll until he got hurt and Westy fought him.
