It was sitting there on the goal line, sitting back door. It’s the same story for us. I thought we played a really good game and couldn’t find a way to score goals. That’s it, really. We’ve got to score goals. (on having to play tight, low-scoring games every game…) We’re well-versed with it, in the last few years, with the same exact story. Maybe not to the same extent as this year. The longer this race goes, the more games you’re going to see that are going to be that grind, 1-1, 2-1. We’ve got to find ways to score. Our goalies have been good all year. We’ve got to find ways to score two goals. If we score two goals, we win the game. We had more chances, more opportunities than them. It was one pretty good individual effort on the overtime goal, and that’s it. (on needing more offense…) Nolly played his first NHL game tonight, and he probably had three or four good chances. Nabokov made some big saves for them. There was one in the third where he made a really good save. If one of those goals in, we hold onto the lead. If you look at our record with a lead in the third, I think we’ve lost three games in four years or something like that. We’ve got to find a way to score goals."

We hit the post, hit his [Evgeni Nabokov’s] back, stopped on the line. We had another couple good opportunities where he made some big saves. Right after they scored the first goal, I thought we picked it up and played a lot better and really put some pressure on them. I think the most frustrating part of getting opportunities is not finishing. The goaltender can only make so many saves. We’ve got to put the puck in the net. We should be confident in one-goal games, but we just have to bear down a little more, whether it’s one hit or one shot, and find ways to win. (on the play of Nolan and King…) They played really well. They were tenacious on the puck and caused a lot of opportunities. We did everything except the most important thing, which was putting it in the net today. They opened up so much space with their work ethic. If we keep working like that and moving like that, and have a little more chemistry, I think we’re going to have success."

I had to get used to the speed of the play, so it definitely took me a period to get into it, but once we did, I thought we played well. (on whether his dad watched in Europe…) My dad is in Latvia right now, so he couldn’t make it, but my mom and my brother were here, so I was excited to see them and I’m glad they came down to watch. My mom was in New York and my brother lives in Toronto so he flew here (Friday) night. … (My dad) watched on the computer somewhere. He was definitely watching and proud of me, so it’s good."

(on whether the Kings deserved the win…) A lot of opportunities. After two (periods), we thought we could have been in a better position. In the third, you’ve got to control the Tavares line, and we did a good job of that. (on the confidence of Nolan and King…) I don’t think confidence was a problem for them. If I just called up and played in the NHL, I don’t think I’d be worried about my confidence. It’s young guys against young guys. We’ll try to get some consistency on it, and we’ll see tomorrow. (on the overtime goal…) I think Quicker would like to have that back again. … Streit made a good play against Martinez and he put it in the middle of the net. (on whether the roster needs more scoring…) Well, you want to be the No. 1 team in the league. I think there’s probably 20 of us (teams) that would like to have more scoring."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Bernier or Quick?

ZJames 02-12-2012 02:40 PM

The next two games are going to be huge in the standings. If there was ever a time for the offense to show up, its now.

johnjm22 02-12-2012 03:01 PM

Last time the Kings played an exciting game was against the Stars.

damacles1156 02-12-2012 03:01 PM

2-1 Game, That is lost in OT. Won't say which team gets the loss.

Both of these teams want points. They will both be playing for OT.

So we can expect one person on the forecheck for each team, and Four guys in the middle.

KingsFan7824 02-12-2012 03:12 PM

If the Kings get a power play, will they win the opening faceoff to that power play?

I think one of the largest problems the Kings have on the PP is that they waste at least the first 30 seconds recovering the puck because they can't seem to win that first faceoff in the offensive zone. They're terrible. Whether it's the center, or the wingers who don't help out, they start out back on their heels with the man advantage. Then after that, everything else comes into play. Nobody in front of the net, bad passing, etc.

Willard 02-12-2012 03:13 PM

Quick is needed today. I'd start him -- but I would have started Bernier on the Island yesterday if it had been my choice.

The Power play is awful, Zero movement , slow pucks, Head fakes, Shin shots.

Watch how fast the Wings move the puck on the PP. It will make you sick.

Seventyx7 02-12-2012 03:35 PM

If the Kings win, I will be happy, and motivational in the next 3 gdts. deal? If they lose... you have to be negative for the next 3 gdts. DEAL OR NO DEAL.

I doubt we score more than four goals today.

DL looks funny and should be fired.

Mike Richards likes to party and Simmonds is better. Worst trade ever.

Everything sucks, why do I even bother watching??

sjmay* 02-12-2012 03:37 PM

Anyone know if King and Nolan are both playing again, is Penner back?

123slam 02-12-2012 03:41 PM

Surprised no one has brought up Morrow's hit on Kopi from the last time they met at Staples. I fully expect Morrow to have a bounty on his head tonight.

Doubt it, Look at the Florida game. I don't think anyone even laid a decent check on Bergenheim

Like Bergenheim had a bounty on his head in Florida?

I absolutely hope you're right but I the Bergenheim situation makes me doubt anyone will do anything about it.

damacles1156 02-12-2012 03:47 PM

Morrow is not even in the lineup. He must be out with injury.

Edit* Yup he is injured.

FrozenKing18 02-12-2012 04:04 PM

Let's win.

Cruel11 02-12-2012 04:14 PM

Bernier in net. Should have played him yesterday...oh well.

His record vs the Stars.

BigBrown 02-12-2012 04:22 PM

Glad Bernier is getting a start, not liking how much Quick is being played.... But I'll agree that Bernier should have played against the Islanders considering how important this game against Dallas is.
