The Consolidated Entertainment Thread (TV/Books/Movies/Music) Part III

So, who watched The Walking Dead tonight? Decent episode, I thought.

Darius Dangleaitis 02-12-2012 11:04 PM

Didn't see it yet, but plan on watching it upon completion of this pop culture orgy on CBS.

MJB Devils23* 02-12-2012 11:06 PM

I'm obsessed with Spartacus.

Mr.Krinkle 02-12-2012 11:29 PM

Anyone catch "Luck" on HBO yet?

Kensu 02-12-2012 11:38 PM

I need a new TV show to watch, is Walking Dead really that good?

Worth watching.

But start watching The River. It's freaky stuff and you've only missed the pilot.

The first season really gets people hooked I feel like, even if it is only 6 episodes. The start to season 2 was not the same as season 1 but IMHO just as good. I've yet to see the new episode tonight but a lot of the actors claim that the second half picks up considerably. I've read the episode summaries and there is a lot they can do so hopefully it comes through.

I've thought Chuck was a good show, I've only got through season 3 though, my emotions need a break after going through 3 seasons in a week. Maybe check out The League, Psych, Dexter, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Person of Interest, Unforgettable, Monk, Community, Big Bang, Shameless.

Shows that need to die are Whitney (whitney *******'s show), 2 And a Half men, and CSI Miami.

Any good mixtapes that have come out recently?

As in rap mixtapes?

If so, then yes, Rich Forever by Rick Ross is the best one so far this year.

Darius Dangleaitis 02-13-2012 01:31 AM

Just watched tonight's Walking Dead episode.

Yeah, I liked it. Hope this means they will be leaving the farm soon.

Jersey Man 02-13-2012 02:09 AM

I thought the episode was pretty meh until the last 10 minutes or so.

lol guys from Philly.

Walking Dead was pretty good, not great but not that bad either. The end sequence was really good stuff. My problem with the show however, is that the characters seem to state everything, and don't leave much out. Sometimes dialogues are better for what ISN'T said rather than what is. An example is towards the start of season 2 when Andrea confronts Dale about "taking her choice away" and articulates it so well that it reads more like a synopsis rather than personal speech. Whenever characters in this show need to speak, aside from the sexual tension stuff with Glenn/Maggie, they know exactly what to say.

Also, the blond who was crying at the start of the episode is not a good crier.

Speaking of excellent dialogue, I recently finished The Wire and oh my god, what a show.

Volchenkovs Face 02-13-2012 03:53 AM

Loaded episode imo.

Based on this weeks episode, what I think the rest of the season has in store:
Spoil:
I feel like the Gov. storyline or something of the sorts is beginning. Doubtful those guys are alone if they are as well traveled as they claim (they must be from philly since they are such *******s :sarcasm:), since they obviously knew Hershel and his farm. With Rick well on his way to being a crazy bad ass killer, maybe they skip the prison. Edit: I just rewatched the second half teaser and there is a zombie "cop" and Rick and Shane are fighting on the back of a police car, they do find some sort of police prison/station. Kinda goes with "dead cop's gun" from the bar.

Rhodes 81 02-13-2012 04:13 AM

Chuck was a great show. The final season was just recently I think but I doubt I'll watch it. Should have ended last season, imo.

The walking dead is filmed about 5 minutes south of where I went to high school

Watched the pilot and 10 min of the 2nd ep and I'm going to like it. Doesn't hold your hand through the plot and makes you figure out what's going on through context. Love it when a show/movie treats the viewer like they're smart enough to figure it out.

Plus I like Michael Mann stuff - rarely sucks from a visuals/music standpoint and he's a perfectionist.

I haven't checked that one out yet. Most Rick Ross outside of Hustlin and when he's a guest sucks.

I think this is going to be the 'make or break' season for The Walking Dead, when we wind up looking back. Curious to see how they recover from a slow 1/2 season where a lot of people gradually lost interest, and ended up not tuning in.

Have to get the hell away from that farm soon.

Devilsfan92 02-13-2012 10:33 AM

I'm finished with my 4 seasons of The Big Bang Theory... now I've got nothing. :(

Couldn't slow down anymore than I did.

There are a couple other shows I've been interested in watching, Park and Recreation, Modern Family, and/or The Office.Any other suggestions?

Jersey Man 02-13-2012 10:53 AM

Fringe.

But no one watches that besides me on here.

onefatsurfer 02-13-2012 02:48 PM

I'm disappointed as hell by this new Fun. album. Autotune? Seriously? PUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE
