2012 & 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide Series & Camping World Truck Series Thread
It is mid-February, which means the new racing season is just around the corner.
The first significant event is the Bud Shootout, which is 8 p.m. EST Saturday on FOX. It is part of the buildup to the Daytona 500 the following weekend. |
Media Day @ Daytona;
On track activity begins tomorrow @ 4, w/ Budweiser Shootout practice, then 6:30, the final practice, then the blind draw @ 8pm |
OK Now the new racing season is on. Keep it going Tony

As exciting as it is to start the race season its a dam shame it had to start this way for one of the broadcast family. |
Gerhart Wins Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona running 7th and all in front of him ran out of fuel coming to the checker.
Up next the Bud Shootout |
Holy crap, what a finish.

Great ending at Shootout.
And very nice to hear Danica going NASCAR the whole season. How good/bad is the team she races in? |
Danica's in one of the better Nationwide series rides. Honestly, there's no reason she shouldn't finish in the Top 5 in points in that series.
Sprint Cup however.... that's a whole different animal. I've been watching her for years in Atlantics and Indycars. She's not a particularly quick driver, but she also rarely makes mistakes. She excels at fuel mileage races, but seems to lack the ability to drive through the field at times. She's also not the friendliest person to be around. NASCAR will work out well for her though because she doesn't have to be around fans as much. |

In about 24 hours, Danica Patrick went from her biggest crash to her biggest moment in a stock car. The former IndyCar star won the pole Friday for the season-opening Nationwide Series race at Daytona, becoming the first woman to secure the top qualifying spot in NASCAR's second-tier series since Shawna Robinson at Atlanta on March 12, 1994. |
Holy crap that finish was nuts, somehow Kyle Busch is alive and well after that drive into the wall.
|
Thanks for that boneheaded move Kurt.
|
By the sounds of it, could see no racing today because of rain.
|
Rain, rain, go away...

First time ever the Daytona 500 was postponed a day.
|
Thanks Mother Nature wait all year to have to watch a DVR of the race. Oh well Go Tony!!!
|
Isn't this why the Daytona 500 was always on Presidents Day weekend? Just in case it rained, it could be pushed to Monday but people would still be able to see it. Now the ratings are going to suck because it's a work day. I know Nascar can't do much if it's raining, so instead I will say thank you NFL for causing havoc with all the other sports with your arrogance and popularity.
