7th Player Award

As I hear Jack reminding us the time to vote is upon us I can but help to think... who?

I really cant say anyone jumps to mind, Pevs or Kelly?

Not really, at least I dont think they are all that beyond what we might expect of them?

After a little mulling I come up with Thornton and mostly just for that sweet penalty shot goal.

norwoodmustang 02-14-2012 07:27 PM

Maybe Brad Marchand?

It's absolutely Chris Kelly. You could make a case for Paille if he ends up with a few more goals, but right now it's Kelly's to lose.

patty59 02-14-2012 07:45 PM

seguin

Bruinsforlife89 02-14-2012 07:50 PM

Seguin

trenton1 02-14-2012 08:01 PM

Everyone is doing about what I expected them to, actually.

I would give it to Paille. He's probably going to score about 13-14 goals from the 4th line this season--that's a pretty rare NHL feat if he does it.

I'm not surprised by this at all, but he's earned some kind of recognition for showing up every single night in an up and down season.

Pouliot and/or Kelly would get it if the award was for the month of November. Seguin was a 2nd overall pick, I expected him to be this good.

duckchobbins 02-14-2012 08:37 PM

Can they change it to 4th player? Named for the guy that whenever he's on the ice it feels like Boston is shorthanded. It would be much easier to vote for.

Still would be a tight race between Corvo, Pouliot and Caron

At least you could name a few guys that deserve it

Kelly, but Seguin will win it.

FutureConsiderations 02-14-2012 08:47 PM

Kelly has this one wrapped up. Thanks for playing, Danny, but Chris Kelly left us no choice.

Sir Richard 37 02-14-2012 08:52 PM

The Cage.

Runner up: The Pie.

He had a decent start but has cooled off tremendously since Seguin was taken off his wing.

IMO, Seguin has this one locked up

Kelly vs Seguin is a tough call but Seguin's star power might rob him of some votes because some might forget how far he has come since last June. Many nights last year he looked out of place and, aside from the 2 games vs Tampa he didn't look too threatening in the playoffs. If you told me Seguin would finish this year with 20 goals I would have gladly taken it. If you asked me which forward would be an all star and lead the team in goals I would have guessed any of the other top 6 before I would have guessed Seguin.

The Fans. For having to watch this current brand of hockey.

Pouliot tries hard every shift I think he deserves it!

Agreed. Kelly has 2 goals since December 14th.

He's been good defensively since then, but...his contributions have fallen off and that's a small but significant part of this team coming back to earth.

Seguin will likely get it because the meaning of the award has been lost on a lot of people for awhile.

If Kelly gets to 20 goals he probably deserves it. But he needs to get it going. 2 goals in 2 months with the mins he's been getting lately is unacceptable.

Kiss My Rask 02-14-2012 09:20 PM

75% of this board including myself expected Seguin to score less than 60 points so I'd say Seguin. Can you honestly say you expected this season from Seguin this year?

Alicat 02-14-2012 09:23 PM

It's Kelly's. Seguin was expected to produce so him doing so isn't shocking. Sadly, people will again vote for the sexy pick.

TP 02-14-2012 09:26 PM

I was 100% Kelly until the last month.. Now I think it's probably Seguin.

Alicat 02-14-2012 09:32 PM

Kelly may not be scoring as of late but he is still having a major impact in games with his 2-way game. Behind Bergy, most consistent player.

TP 02-14-2012 09:36 PM

I agree Aly, but as you said, it will become a popularity contest.

trenton1 02-14-2012 09:44 PM

Seguin was basically drafted as the 1A overall. I see the 2nd year of Tavares (67 points) and Seguin is on a near identical pace.

It's not a crime at all if he gets the 7th player award, but the expectations for a player of this calibre are often pretty high.

I made no predictions but I wouldn't have been tremendously upset if Seguin had a 50 point season as that would have been nice progress. But I think a 65-70 point season is about right for his talent/situation. I think that's about where he'll end up as well.

Paille is a very good choice but all of the little "marry me Seguin" girls will stuff the box for Seggy.
