Waive Emery

You know, I had an extended rant about the worst Chicago Blackhawks goalie in my life, but I know how much some of you still love the guy, out of respect to you I will just say you already know my thoughts.

ndgt10 02-14-2012 10:40 PM

He is terrible. One of the wirst backups in the league.

I don't think anyone here loves him. But there was a stretch when he was clearly a better option than CC.

For all we know, we are still in that stretch...

Chris Hansen 02-14-2012 10:44 PM

You guys are fantastic!

It LITERALLY couldn't have been more than a week ago that almost all of you were calling to give Emery the starting reins over Crawford.

Now, after ONE bad game, that's all gone.

And hey, I'm not even an Emery fan. The goal tonight was a backbreaker. But once again sports fans show JUST how quickly they ditch all confidence in their players.

Of course, in fairness to you, coldsteel, you've had a rather insane hatred of Emery all year long, so this post doesn't necessarily apply to you.

IU Hawks fan 02-14-2012 10:47 PM

Imagine if Emery played the Oilers game. How different could the stretch as a whole be if they have momentum from that game...

Careful. Everyone here will have you believe these Hawks were and are destined for Yakupov anyway.

He did. POS gave up 3 goals.

Right...after the Hawks came back twice and CC let in another softie so the D stopped playing at that point

willch878 02-14-2012 11:43 PM

We're going to argue over who's better.... Emery or CC?

They both suck.

I'm going to puke if we have to go with either as our long-term #1.

coldsteelonice84 02-15-2012 12:26 AM

Listening to the Hawks tv guys, studio minus Savard and everyone on the radio, every station, currently Grobstein as well, all saying Emery had a good game but Rinne stole it. This is the most bizarre **** I've ever seen and heard in my life...and I've seen some crazy stuff in my time. This is just so weird.

UsernameWasTaken 02-15-2012 12:34 AM

He's been just awful...but I'm not sure waiving him is the answer.

What else could we do with him? I think a standard waive is enough.

After CC gave up what, 5??

willch878 02-15-2012 05:00 AM

If we waived CC, no team would take him.

If some team actually took him, then good. We get rid of his contract.

Bubba88 02-15-2012 05:20 AM

goaltending is not our problem, right?

coldsteelonice84 02-15-2012 07:48 AM

This isn't about CC. It's about Ray Emery sucking all year. Could have had Elliott over this guy.

Illinihockey 02-15-2012 09:08 AM

Emery played good last night but the last goal was bad deflection or not.

Nope. 16/19 in saves and two softies from the point with minimal to no traffic. And since when do we let the goalie off the hook automatically because of a 1 inch deflection through his legs? Just this year.

I assume you were on the "sign the guy who sucked **** in Ottawa, then was worse in Colorado" bandwagon, right?

Nope.

There weren't a lot of chances but he made a bunch of big saves. I wouldn't count the 1st shot from the point as a softy, I sort of went back and forth on that one but that was a big change of direction that went in off the post and there was a guy in front of him.

Tone King 02-15-2012 09:22 AM

I think the board was 1/2 for Emery and 1/2 for Salak at the beginning of the year. Salak didn't really show he was much better than Emery in preseason and Q went with experience.

Can't see how much worse then you can get if you watched Elliot play last year. Between him and Budaj it was more of a 'who has the less likely chance of losing this' mindset then a 'who has a better chance of winning this'. They might sound the same, but they're very different if you put them into context of how they played.

They were both sieves on a horrendous team, but i'm just surprised they got signed so fast and Emery who played very well on the Ducks only got a tryout.

You guys are really disrespecting Elliot by comparing Emery to him and I saw a lot of Elliot last year. His performance last year was epically bad and one of the worst seasons I've seen from a goalie, particularly in Colorado. Nevertheless, Elliot > Emery.

Tone King 02-15-2012 09:24 AM

Coldsteel is our new private eye :)
