Nash On The Block Part III: ALL NASH TALK & PROPOSALS HERE!

According to TSN, their panel of experts all agree that Nash's list of desired destinations, were he would accept a trade, is no more than 5 teams. Speculation from both TSN & Sportsnet have listed Vancouver, Philly, NYR, Toronto & the Kings.

If in fact those are the 5 teams, here is what I think Howson would want.

Vancouver: Schneider, Hodgson, Ballard + 1st pk (Cap sp: $47.7K)
Philly: Bobrovsky, JVR, Couturier + 1st pk (Cap space: $0K)
NYR: Dubinsky, Stepan, Girardi (Cap space: $1.5M)
Toronto: McCarthur, Schenn, Kadri + 1st pk (Cap space: $1.3M)
Kings: Bernier, Johnson, Stoll, Voynov (Cap space: $689K)

Big asks, but remember these are Columbus' wants. Thoughts?

Shaun 02-15-2012 11:56 AM

Thank god Boston isn't on the list.

Philly's package is laughable. We could get Shea ****ing Weber for that package.

seafoam 02-15-2012 11:57 AM

He is not going anywhere with those asking prices!!!

John-Eric Iannicello 02-15-2012 11:57 AM

I think the Leafs will kick tires, but I don't think Burke will pull the trigger on Nash. I just think the price in terms of future pieces will be too high for him to pay right now.

Shadow Flyer 02-15-2012 11:57 AM

Not that I wouldn't like Nash, but it doesn't make sense for the Flyers. Too big a contract for too long when offense isn't a problem. It's a franchise killing contract when it doesn't fill a need, especially with the assets that would have to go the other way.

Now, if Nash can get out there on the blueline and do a Pronger imitation...

theheeb 02-15-2012 11:57 AM

as a leaf fan if thats all they wanted id gladly do it. But in reality the toronto package is the worst of the bunch and is not going to get it done.

Mukfors 02-15-2012 11:57 AM

gah

I dont really think any of those teams would make any of those deals

Nash on the Canucks would be scary tough

MoreMogilny 02-15-2012 11:57 AM

That package from Philly is ridiculous.

As a Leaf fan, I wouldn't move those assets for Nash.

Evgeni Giroux 02-15-2012 11:58 AM

They always say Toronto to attract viewers, IMO he will not be dealt until the offseason anyways

TML g u n n e R s* 02-15-2012 11:58 AM

a lot of overpayment going on, but that's what it will take

flyershockey 02-15-2012 11:58 AM

Eh, if those are the starting points, Nash will be a bluejacket for a long time. I understand that you start high in negotiations, but those packages are ridiculous.

If this were to be the case, IMO, the only teams that bite are the Leafs and perhaps the Kings. The other 3 are HUGE overpayments.

King In The North 02-15-2012 11:59 AM

Toronto is giving up significantly less than the other teams

Hensch 02-15-2012 11:59 AM

A big no f***ing thanks from nyr....

Next!

Howson would never get that package from Los Angeles. Last thing Dean Lombardi, mister hire a defensive coach when he just fired a defensive coach because the team couldn't score enough goals would do is trade two defensemen + more for Nash.

I'd agree if JVR wasn't injured

Pi 02-15-2012 12:00 PM

Leafs arent at the stage that other teams are, cant gut 2 NHL players, top prospect and a first round pick. Maybe after a year or two.

Nash is great but its really a sideway move because, believe it or not, it will make us worse.

Nash is headed to Vancouver if they offer goalie, hodgson, ballard.

Brendan Shanahan 02-15-2012 12:01 PM

He really only makes sense to the Leafs and the Kings.

Drop the Sopel 02-15-2012 12:01 PM

Wouldn't move Cody Hodgson in a package for Rick Nash. Hodgson has more points/minute than Nash as a rookie 3rd liner...

Don't see the Canucks intereted here.

Marlo Stanfield 02-15-2012 12:02 PM

Can't see the Kings give up both Voynov and Johnson but it's a price you may have to pay.

Philly's package is absurd. No need to blow up and trade two pieces of your young core and your only goalie insurance who's gonna be vital down the stretch.

hotshot26 02-15-2012 12:02 PM

If I'm Philly I'd offer Bob, JVR, and a 1st. No way am I giving up Couturier

Is he gonna be injured forever or what?

No team is going to give that many sweet young assets for Rich Nash and his contract. They especially aren't going to give those assets away when they are one of the top scoring teams in the league.

If that's the asking price, the conversation between Howson and Homer will be very brief, indeed.

Captain Smurf 02-15-2012 12:02 PM

Vancouver: Don't see Vancouver making a play, it ruins their cap structure.
Philly: Philly gets hosed here.
NYR: Not great for the Rangers, but pretty good value. Regardless, I don't see the Rangers moving Girardi.
Toronto: Closest, can actually see this happening.
Kings: Not great for the Kings, doubt Voynov and Johnson get traded together. Maybe replace Voynov with Clifford or Toffoli?

Lehner 02-15-2012 12:02 PM

Very deal there is way overpayment except for the leafs one.
