Much more favorable matchup no doubt against Washington/Florida than any other possible matchup in the first round.

bryzgalovsky* 02-15-2012 07:01 PM

we might not even make it into the playoffs

we're about to drop to 5th penguins are winning

Justified 02-15-2012 07:04 PM

well maybe if they can start covering people in our zone all this will change...

Dude, chill out. The Flyers could easily go on a hot streak. Quit being so gloom and doom all of the time.

The next 6 games are:
Sabres [HOME]
Penguins [HOME - AFTERNOON]
Jets [ROAD TRIP!]
Oilers
Flames
Sharks

I'm thinking they split at home -- win against Sabres, lose against Penguins -- and go 2-1-1 on the road.

Ya, and Homer might just hold on to all of the Flyers' 2nd round picks! Face reality man! This team, as it is now, is not good enough to win the 1st round!

Brostradamus 02-15-2012 07:29 PM

Are there really people negative enough to believe that teams like Ottawa, Toronto, and New Jersey are going to block us from a postseason berth?

If teams like the Islanders and Habs are still in the race I'm pretty sure we are fine. It's a long 82 game season, its not going to be a pleasure cruise the whole way, and quite honestly with all of the new faces, rookies, and injuries this team has had to deal with, I am very impressed that the Flyers sit in 4th at the moment.

There are still 4 games to be played against Pittsburgh, and a bunch against teams on the playoff border and around our positioning. This slump sucks but I have no doubt they will turn it around. It could be worse and we could be in Chicago's 1-8-1 slump.

Flyerfan808 02-15-2012 07:39 PM

It's disconcerting, that's for sure. This team needs to start surging.

that's actually why i am worried

if they don't get stuff figured out, in the final 20-something games that are left they will be helping other teams get into the playoffs

The team is still banged up and still at least one trade away from being the roster we will see in the postseason. I will agree that I am worried that Jagr and Briere have been ghosts on the scoresheets. The injuries and atrocious defense is why the Flyers need to go out and make the defensive moves sooner than later. They have gotten points in 6 of their last 10 games and have received a lot of depth scoring, which is great to see. Its the top forwards and blue line that concerns me but nothing that bringing in some depth to push one of Gus/MAB out of the lineup can't help. The three day rest they just had I'm sure will do wonders for them.

no with the way this team has played

JDinkalage Morgoone 02-15-2012 09:10 PM

Why even bother watching the games then? Just don't watch and you won't see them lose!

sobrien 02-15-2012 09:18 PM

DOOM AND GLOOM! :scared::scared::scared::scared:

As a "flyersfan4life" you should be used to it by now. Like hurricane season in the southeast.

Flyerfan4life 02-20-2012 06:59 PM

well now NJ has not only caught us they have passed us..

ceehrist do we need to win vs the Jets.

grrrr.....

CS 02-20-2012 07:04 PM

Frankly, if our goaltending didn't suck we might still be competing for the division lead.

Only thing we can do is pray that Kubina and Grossman buffer Bryzgalov like the Pronger-led blueline used to buffer Leighton.

Also, if I see another weak wrist shot from a streaking forward at the point with no screen beat Bryzgalov I'm going to lose it.

GKJ 02-20-2012 07:04 PM

Why are people upset that we went from 4th to 5th? Anyone with a clue would have taken 5th place on February 20 and ran with it back in the summer.

its 1st down to 5th and still sinking...:help:

sorry if that doesnt seem like bad news to you, but it sets off alarm bells here..

Garbage Goal 02-20-2012 07:13 PM

That's what happens when you suck against your division.

Tripod 02-20-2012 07:19 PM

of course we have stuggled as of late...that is obvious. BUt I do hold out hope that this team can start playing some sound defense and get some goaltending that we deserve!!!

It shouldn't. The Flyers are simply regressing to their mean.

Sounds like you got your hopes up more than anything. It could be worse, it could be the Wild...

MountainHawk 02-20-2012 07:32 PM

Flyers have more hockey wins that every team but the Rangers and Wings. Not really concerned at all, the lame shootout points won't save teams like New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Boston in the postseason.

The "first place in the West and nosedive out of the playoffs" Wild?

or the

"Shutout the Boston Bruins on National Television" Wild?

Either way...there's still time.
