[TB/SJ] Dominic Moore with 7th rd pick for MIN's 2nd rd pick

Per Bobby Mac, Mike Corcoran, etc.

shello 02-16-2012 06:20 PM

I'm pretty happy with the return.

Vasilevskiy 02-16-2012 06:22 PM

...will he play with sharks or bolts tonight?

Going Back to Cally 02-16-2012 06:24 PM

It's Minnesota's 2nd so we should have 2 high picks in the second round plus a later pick. Lots of ammo.

Ten88Nineteen 02-16-2012 06:28 PM

Sharks were my favorite to win it this year, and now that only improves. They really have a ridiculous team.

TheDaysOf 04 02-16-2012 06:29 PM

That's 3 second rounders. 4 picks in the top 60 is pretty good.

Sad to see Moore go. A 3rd line center is replaceable but he was a great fit here. A 2nd rounder is what he's been traded for in the past so it is good value. Hopefully something will be done to fix that 3rd line this offseason.

Connolly should get more minutes now too.

LoSTRaMaiR 02-16-2012 06:34 PM

So is he playing against us tonight? That will be kind of strange

snowden 02-16-2012 06:36 PM

I see us unloading at least one of those 2nd rounders. Might be able to get some good value out of it.

edit: No he's not playing against us. Probably couldn't get him a jersey.

Doctor Drej 02-16-2012 06:43 PM

Sad to see Dom go. Sharks getting a good playoff performer, hes been a vital player for back to back ECF runs.

CaptBrannigan 02-16-2012 06:48 PM

I wish we would have kept him. When this team gets back to the playoffs it's going to need players like Moore in the bottom 6. He's more versatile than Pyatt, Thompson, or Hall.

So apparently #sjsharks / #tblightning business was being discussed here: http://twitpic.com/8kv09m

Not surprised that a deal was made today to be honest. Meet face to face and get things done quickly. Easier and more honest than working the phones.

Van Wolfswinkler 02-16-2012 06:59 PM

Maybe they could've gotten more out of it.

Felonious Python 02-16-2012 07:00 PM

Moore better come back from SJ with one of their filing cabinets.

Related, what is Kubina doing? Somebody keep an eye on him so he doesn't swipe all the stationary.

TheDaysOf 04 02-16-2012 07:01 PM

If the season ended today, that pick would be #40.

Yzerman on the trade:

Quote:

"We acted very quickly, but it's not something we've been working on for a long time."
Quote:

"We acquired Minnesota's 2nd round pick, don't know where that will end up to be, we just felt it's a high pick that is too valuable to pass on."
Quote:

"Having those picks gives us a lot of options. We're not going to go out and trade those picks for unrestricted free agents, but we know we can use them in June to select young players, potentially use those to move up in the draft, or use those to acquire prospects that are closer to playing in the NHL."

Sad to see him go. Moore was a vital part of our 2011 run.

dbieon12 02-16-2012 09:22 PM

Dominic Moore was a good guy to have. Would throw a punch, take a penalty when needed. But usually played smart. Played creative. Created plays.

Hopefully this move pays off. Who is to replace him?

Right now Thompson will take over 3rd line center while Hall centers the 4th.

Hockeyfan02 02-16-2012 09:48 PM

Very good return for Moore. The pick will hopefully be in the top 40 and it wouldn't surprise me if it's used in a package to acquire a goalie if Yzerman goes the trade route. Moore was a good player here and I wouldn't mind Yzerman bringing him back in the summer if he wants to come back.

I Am Beat You 02-16-2012 10:46 PM

I like this.

Follower of Yzlam 02-16-2012 11:07 PM

I also don't hate the combo of Stamkos/Lecav/Thompson/Hall down the middle. Think Thompson is good enough to stay a third line center?

I Am Beat You 02-16-2012 11:36 PM

This should be a good audition to see how he handles the role. If he does well, Yzerman may decide we don't need to pursue a 3rd line C in free agency.

LightningStrikes 02-17-2012 01:07 AM

We now have 4 picks in the first two rounds (3 2nd rounders). That's huge. If SFY gets another top-60 pick for Kubina or even Malone and/or Clark... It also gets us a better chance to perhaps trade up for another 1st rounder. *drool*

Good luck to Dominic, he's a warrior. Maybe we'll see him on our team again next season.
