Anyone Else Resent the Attention the Knicks are Getting Lately?

The Rangers have been in first place most of the year and haven't been more than an afterthought in the mainstream press. Then suddenly this former nobody wins a few games and the MSG/Time Warner feud is settled in 3 days. No one gave a **** that a million+ viewers missed over half of the Ranger season but this flash in the pan brings NYC to it's knees?

Victory* 02-17-2012 07:52 PM

Who cares?

drewcon40 02-17-2012 07:55 PM

not one bit.

Megustaelhockey 02-17-2012 07:58 PM

No. Consider hockey a private club; you'll live longer.

Tawnos 02-17-2012 08:00 PM

As amazing as this season has been for the Rangers, nothing about this team is as compelling of a story as Lin has been.

ecemleafs 02-17-2012 08:02 PM

no. im a knicks fan too.

Rangers Fail 02-17-2012 08:04 PM

If Linsanity is what it takes to get TWC customers their Rangers back, I'll take it. Even though I wasn't affected, I felt bad for my fellow Rangers fans that were.
But yeah, IDK why a .500 team is getting more attention than the first place Rangers.
Come April, the Knicks are out of the picture anyway. Sorry guys.

Cmox 02-17-2012 08:08 PM

I think the Rangers deserve more attention. And the whole TW thing should've been fixed earlier. As a hockey fan I feel pretty unimportant to TW and MSG.

bmw2004 02-17-2012 08:08 PM

Lin with 8 turn overs in first half lol

White Plains Batman 02-17-2012 08:11 PM

Don't care; The Rangers to me are that great band that isn't quite mainstream but the people who get it, get it.

Ever since the lockout, there's been this unity of hockey fans. Yes, my friends who root for the Islanders/Devils/rest of the Gallery of Rogues we still give each other %@#%, but there's this mutual respect we have for each other like when we just shoot the crap to talk prospects, fantasy, etc. We're all hockey fans and part of the best kept secret in sports.

Victory* 02-17-2012 09:17 PM

I think it's been beneficial for the Rangers. Every night on ESPN they go "MSG is rocking right now...Knicks and Rangers both on fire"

NyRangers88 02-17-2012 09:29 PM

If Lin and the Knicks get all the attention, maybe Dolan won't raise our prices too much next year!

mullichicken25 02-17-2012 09:41 PM

I'm with you atoz...I wish that stupid sport never came back from the lockout

HeaveHo94 02-17-2012 09:42 PM

no. who really cares, this is not a hockey town.

Lol! I feel exactly the same way, pal. The lockout accomplished absolutely nothing and the NBA is borderline unwatchable.

Muh 02-17-2012 10:17 PM

Not at all, cause I am a big Knick fan...

But I was curious...Superbowl ended, and only NHL and NBA are the active sports. Would NYR have gotten a backpage if it wasn't for Lin? We did just have a good streatch vs some good Eastern teams, so I wonder what backpage would have looked like on non-Knick game days.

Either way, I look for an exciting spring in NY for both teams.

I'm absolutely sick of hearing this. Hockey may not have the most fans when compared to baseball or football, but there are tons of NYR, NYI, and NJ fans all over who are passionate and enthusiastic about the sport. There is a reason the NYC area has 3 teams.

The Rangers haven't been on the back page once this year in 3/4 of a season....before, during, or after anything...

Not even for the winter classic? that's a disgrace

That flash in the pan could fall off any second now. He's not even qualified enough to hold Lundqvist's jock strap this season. Lundqvist is puting up one of the gretest regular season goalie performances ever. If that's not interesting enough, the Rangers as a TEAM are in first place in the eastern conference for the first time in EIGHTEEN YEARS. But no, the sole performances of Jeremy Lin in a handful of games are greater than what the Rangers have accomplished as a team this entire season.

NYRFAN218 02-17-2012 11:33 PM

Don't care for the attention. They can take the coverage and attention, I'll take the wins and first place.

Pizza 02-17-2012 11:42 PM

Rangers on the down low is not a bad thing. Lin has gone from absolute Zero to total Hero in the space of a week or two. It's a great story. I hope it continues.

I don't believe so...but i'll look it up...they may have been relegated to a "top one inch" section...I'm actually nearly positive that's what it was.

edit: In the top right hand corner of the back page on 1/3/2012 is a small picture about 2"x2" that says "Classic Comeback" with a little diddy about Ruppers pair of goals.

I won't speak for the rest of us....but this is my biggest problem.

How in the ****ing world can a NEW YORK SPORTS TEAM be one of the top three team in their respective league for the past 8-9 weeks and no one seems to even NOTICE? Forget about people who don't care...I've lost all respect who bastardize (apologize for this word...block it out if nec.) hockey and make it an underling....but in a town who prides itself on it's "sports knowledge" and a "hot bed of American sports" how can they possibly claim that if the don't talk about something as big as the Rangers in first place...
