Thornton vs. Kassian

Wow, what a long and good fight. :handclap:

Son of Marshmont 02-19-2012 04:37 PM

It was....Kassian's a big boy and Thorts had his hands full.

That was fun to watch. Love me some Thornton but I think Kassian gets the edge.

Will post a video when it's available.

Easy decision for Kassian. Thornton's face has a couple dents in it from his fist.

Banana Sandwiches 02-19-2012 04:40 PM

That was a pretty solid fight. Kassian is one really big dude, but I thought Thornton did pretty well in it, getting those uppercuts towards the end.

Those contusions and bruises on Thornton's face actually made him look better.:laugh:

Actually it's from Kassian's helmet.

Solid draw.

Mr. Canucklehead 02-19-2012 05:06 PM

I'd call it a draw/edge Thornton, actually. Kassian came out swinging, but was completely gassed by the end. Thornton played a very measured fight and got in some good quick jabs towards the end.

Entertaining bout.

Great fight by Kassian!

wow, Thornton is so tough, kind of reminds me of the Mirasty toughness where there is no giving up and the longer the fight goes he will come back and be very dangerous, I lean toward draw too but I could see narrow win for Thornton because ending matters more than beginning

I respect Thornton as both a very savvy scrapper and a reasonably good hockey player. That's what an enforcer should be.

Helton4Hall 02-19-2012 05:27 PM

******* is Kassian strong.

Dampland 02-19-2012 05:47 PM

Kassian with the win, but Thorten only proved he had more endurance to hang on for dear life.

SPV 02-19-2012 05:53 PM

Good tussle, Kassian came out bombing, but ran out of gas like Foreman in Zaire!! I'd call it a draw with a slight edge to Kassian for the early aggression, but kudos to Thornton for hanging in and then taking it to him at the end.

westernhome 02-19-2012 05:56 PM

watched it 10 more times, and the only real hit that landed well was the uppercut by Thornton, absolute narrow win for Thornton in this bout

Kassian was swinging but completely unable to do anything against Thornton's defence, and Thornton was able to get a couple through with his opportunity

Matt Kassian is one funny dude on Twitter.

good scrap... decision for Thronton, imo.

stingo 02-19-2012 08:37 PM

Edge to Kassian.

zoA 02-19-2012 08:45 PM

Solid fight, based on the efforts of both, Kassian at the start, Thornton at the end, they both earned a draw. If I absolutely had to go one way I'd probably give the nod to Kassian for the early display of strength, but I was very impressed with Thornton hanging in there. Thornton is a horse, plain and simple, the guy has incredibly strong forearms to be able to keep the much bigger fighters away like that. He also has some of the best technical skills of any fighter in the league, watch his balance and cognitive awareness, it's downright impressive.

Watch it again... At the end it wasnt thornton holding on for dear life...

SouthernHab 02-19-2012 08:49 PM

Cant wait to go to the "other fight site" to see the Boston homers give Thornton a HUGE win.:laugh:

I would give this fight a draw since neither thoroughly dominated. Kassian is awesome though.

LyricalLyricist 02-19-2012 11:52 PM

I'd say Kassian got the slight edge. Been a while since I saw Thornton get handled like that, even if only for a moment.

Shabutie 02-20-2012 12:03 AM

What a boring fight... I expected so much when I saw Thornton was involved and the OP said good + long fight. None of those punches really connected and both guys seemed winded after 20 seconds.
