Another Alaskan waiver pick up from the Isles.

The Fear Boners 02-23-2012 11:14 AM

This cannot fail.

Seriously though, this is good, keeps us from raiding Norfolk.

newham89 02-23-2012 11:15 AM

Pfft, who needs Downie?

BoltSTH 02-23-2012 11:18 AM

Another Alaskan. Run out of French Canadians to sign , now going for Alaska

LightningStrikes 02-23-2012 11:20 AM

Draft Russian.
Sign French.
Claim Alaskan.

Benders Lindyhop 02-23-2012 11:25 AM

So we're bringing a guy in on game day instead of getting rid of one? Interesting.

Tim Wallace, claimed today off waivers from the Islanders, will not play tonight for Lightning, coach Guy Boucher says.

The Fear Boners 02-23-2012 11:35 AM

Wouldn't be surprised to see Smith or Angelidis go back after the game.

Wallace gives his all every shift and plays his role well in my opinion. Solid pick-up for their 4th line.

Damn I had a feeling he would be claimed, he is a good role player and a great AHL player and leader. He played a good grind game but he hands are better suited for the AHL. Would have loved to have him for Bridgeports playoff run.

My issue is not that Wallace is being waived. My issue is that you could easily make the case that Wallace has been more effective in his role than two other guys on our roster who we brought in on purpose at the NHL level earning NHL dollars. Wallace came in and played the 4th line grinding role just fine. I never saw him let up in the effort department. I also saw him try a few things with the puck that 4th liners don't tend to do. Of course, he did some of that with Pandolfo at center (who is basically a black hole for offense.)

BoltSTH 02-23-2012 11:58 AM

2 way $700K/105K and UFA at end of year so just a warm body for Bolts for the last 20 games without robbing Norfolk.

This is getting to be a little ridiculous. 4 straight games - 4 straight roster moves on the same day.

I Am Beat You 02-23-2012 02:03 PM

I like Wallace, he plays hard. Plus, he's got cement in his boots.

HockeyTownUSA 02-23-2012 02:29 PM

A valiant effort and you gotta respect him in that fight, but in this category he is still an unknown and unproven having only 2 NHL fights under his belt with 1 loss and 1 draw.

I Am Beat You 02-23-2012 02:47 PM

I wouldn't consider him a scrapper but he's very physical and isn't afraid to mix it up. I like this pickup, it's good for us and the Admirals.

IdealisticSniper 02-23-2012 02:47 PM

Oh thank god. SY got his man. The plan worked.

:sarcasm:

Drouin2Stamkos 02-23-2012 02:54 PM

Sounds like a decent move. Let's the admirals keep some players for their playoff run.

Maelmoor 02-23-2012 03:38 PM

Maybe a sign that Hall will be moved?

You need to become "The Alaskan Assassins".

The Fear Boners 02-23-2012 05:44 PM

The more I see of him, the more I like.

Why would you have seen it today given the circumstances? This season is done and we're building for the future.

LGB 26 02-25-2012 09:38 PM

Was Tim in the game today? Any perceptions? I didnt get to watch the game.

I don't know....just thought he might want to bust his ass for his new team rather than fit right in. And yes, today was abysmal for everyone and it was his first game etc., etc.,
