Lame Day Thread: Wild Vs. Josy 2/26/12 5:00 PM FSN North
Just before a predictable loss in Dallas Friday night, the Wild traded fan-favorite defenseman Marek Zidlicky to the New Jersey Devils. In return they received defenseman
Kurtis Foster http://i.imgur.com/08xsW.jpg, Wing Stephane Veilleux, http://walloftvs.org/images/veilleaux-nom-nom.gif Wing Nick Palmieri, http://i.imgur.com/j3GMN.jpg a 2nd round pick and a conditional 3rd round selection. New Jersey fans are estatic to receive a top 2 defensive pairing, PPQB, PMD for an array of spare parts. Wild fans everywhere cried out in agony as their beloved #3 was given the horrifying news that he had been moved to Jersey (a fate that one wouldn't wish on even their worst of enemies). I'm going to walk you all through a few of my favorite Zidlicky memories, which I'm sure are yours as well. The first highlight I will show you represents Zids' unquestionable heart. Noted goon Sidney Crosby was viciously attacking wild players, and only Marek was man enough to stand up to this horrifying monster of a player. Crosby has not played for most of the season, while i don't have the facts to back this up, I assume he's in jail for assault with a hockey skate. While he did not win the fight, it still showed real courage and toughness to even stand up to a fighter in Sidney's class. This was not the first time Zidlicky defended himself from the league's goons. playing for Nashville Marek took on noted pugalist Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Again Zidlicky stands up to one of the toughest players in the league, players who most players wouldn't even dream of fighting. But Marek isn't all fists, He's also a brilliantly creative skater, with a shot that makes Chara jealous. He is the prototype for PPQB's and never missed a defensive assignment. If this team had 6 Zidlicky's, they'd be in first place. These new faces will have big skates to fill, and will have to produce big to step out of the shadow left behind by Marek Zidlicky. :wild: 27-25-9, 12th, 63 pts Lines: Heatley-Brodziak-Setoguichi Clutterbuck-Cullen-Palmieri Powe-Christiansen-Johnson Veilleux-Peters-Ortmeyer Scandella-Spurgeon Shultz-Zanon Falk-Foster Backstrom :sharks: 23-21-7, 7th, 71 pts Lines TBD |
Excellent.
Let the No More Marek Zidlicky era begins. |
Marek Zidlicky.....we hardly knew thee.....
Excellent sarcasm though. Glad the whiner is gone now. Get some useful cap space and hell if Foster performs half admirably this year, re-sign him for a year or two until our defensive prospects make the jump. Don't know whether to watch this tomorrow in hopes of a playoff push or skip half the games this year instead of spending my time watching Minnesota continue to go into a freefall. |
I will miss the 1st and probably the 2nd period of the game. I'm gonna go watch Mikhail Grigorenko and the Quebec Remparts game (once again) this afternoon.
I should be able to watch the 3rd period. :crossfing |
Haha, you laid the sarcasm on so thick I could taste it. Bravo, sir! bravo! :handclap:
|
If we're gonna still try for the playoffs, we gotta start a run here. Not too optimistic, but we'll see.
Also, nice GDT. :handclap: |
Very touching GDT ;)
Let's see if I'm going to see this. Game starts 1:00 am here and I'm going to work again tomorrow. You should have some three day mandatory sick leave after every vacation. Just because of a stress reaction.. |
Yea! Lets welcome back Foster and Veilleux with a win.
|
Can't wait to see Veilleux again .... What a character? Eh?
Hope he sticks through the rest of the year. So many comical anecdotes are waiting to be read on Russo's blog. http://cdn.nhl.com/lightning/images/...x-kiss-600.jpg |
Kassian and Prosser sitting. Backs in net...(Russo)
|
Well I'll be watching the message board to see what's happening. I'm working until 9 tonight.
:shakehead This job...ugh |
According to Russo lines tonight look like this
Heatley-Brodziak-Setoguichi Clutterbuck-Cullen-Palmieri Powe-Christiansen-Johnson Veilleux-Peters-Ortmeyer Scandella-Spurgeon Shultz-Zanon Falk-Foster |
Not bad.
Also, Veilleux is an upgrade over Kassian that's for sure. |

I'm counting on the new guys to provide a spark for at least a few games. Foster and Woodchuck sound pretty excited about re-joining their former team.

I'm not happy about having to watch Foster and Veilleux in Wild sweaters again. :( |
No Sheppard, no care.

And remember, Foster and Veilleux are essentially rentals. They are probably gone after the season, tho I could see Foster getting an extension since our D corps are still very very shallow. |
