Player Profile - Ben BishopSelected in the 3rd Round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Ben Bishop has spent the majority of his career as the starter of the AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, the Peoria Rivermen. A University of Maine graduate, Ben Bishop has been the top goalie statistically in the AHL thus far, and is ready to make the jump to the NHL. Stuck behind Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak, Bishop was traded to Ottawa for a 2013 2nd Round Pick.

Dailyfaceoff.com had this to say about Bishop:

Quote:

With Craig Anderson currently out indefinitely, Bishop gives the Senators another option between the pipes. The difference between him and Alex Auld/Robin Lehner is upside — the hulking netminder won 24 of his 38 starts with an impressive 2.26 GAA and .928 save percentage.

After Auld allowed four goals last night it should be safe in assuming he loses his job when Anderson returns. Bishop’s arrival also means Robin Lehner, who by comparison was struggling in the AHL, is bumped down to third, or fourth, on the depth chart. It could also mean the latter has a very limited future with the Senators organization (and is probably pissed off).

At 6’7″, Bishop is in the mold of current NHL starting goalies. He’s big, he’s athletic and more importantly he’s only 25; think Pekka Rinne, Jacob Markstrom, Anders Lindback, etc. And despite Anderson signing through 2015, the consensus is Bishop will challenge for the position. To give an example of his upside, the previous top AHL netminders have been Cory Schneider, Curtis Sanford, Braden Holtby and Jonathan Bernier. In other words, this kid has potential.

Standings

A Look at the 1927 Ottawa Senators
In the early 20th century, there were few hockey teams that were as good as the Ottawa Senators. The team won 11 Stanley Cups from 1903 to 1927, with the final championship coming against the Boston Bruins. The 1926-27 season for the Ottawa Senators was the last season before an eventual decline that led to the teams relocation to St. Louis.

http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...Statistics.png

With the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Cougars, and New York Rangers participating in their inaugural season, the new 10 team NHL became more difficult, with the coveted Lord Stanley becoming the championship trophy, the 1st time the trophy was complete property of the NHL. General Manager Dave Gill went behind the bench to take responsibility of both the GM and HC duties.

http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...Auditorium.jpg
The team played at the Ottawa Auditorium, which was host to the Stanley Cup Finals between the Bruins and Senators. The Championship would go to the first team to reach 2 wins. After Game 1 finished in a 0-0 tie in Boston, the Senators came back to win 3-1 in Game 2, leaving the Senators one game away from the Stanley Cup as the series shifted back to Ottawa. After another tie in Ottawa, April 13th offered yet another chance for the Senators to win the Cup. The team would not let the chance slip away again, and beat the Bruins 3-1 to secure Lord Stanley.

Wikipedia:

Quote:

The Senators decided to start two players who had been substitutes in the previous games, Frank Finnigan and Hec Kilrea and the moves were a success. The Senators came out on the offensive and took a 2–0 lead in the first period on goals by Finnigan and Denneny. Denneny scored again in the third period to put the Senators ahead 3–0. The game degenerated after that. Lionel Hitchman and George Boucher fought, with Eddie Shore jumping in. Ottawa police jumped onto the ice to help the referees and Hitchman and Boucher were ejected. Oliver scored with six minutes to play. Ottawa's Hooley Smith butt-ended Oliver in the face with a minute to play. Shore jumped in to fight Smith and the two were ejected. After the game Coutu attacked referee Laflamme on his way to the dressing room.[3]

Dear Omni,

I decided to post this now because I don't want a repeat of Saturday, and I may not have a chance to post this tonight.

Good GDT.

Little early though, ;)

Oh well, Go :sens Go!

Here are the guidelines for the GDT Schedule. Constructive feedback is welcome.

GDTs can only be reserved up to two (2) weeks in advance1 (reservations by non-Sens fans will be considered up to one week in advance)

Any GDT reserved but not started by 12pm EST on gameday is up for grabs to anyone
Reservations are accepted in the order in which they are posted in this thread.

If you cannot make a GDT after reserving it, please let me know the night before, therefor I can open it to anyone who wants to take it.

Current GDTs may be started anytime after the previous gameday

The maximum number of games which can be reserved by a single poster at any one time is two1.

Posters in italics are conditionally claiming the GDT, but are willing to let someone else do it. See their post in this thread for details on their conditional claim.

Inconsiderate behaviour (e.g. failure to start the GDT in a timely manner) is grounds for losing GDT thread reservation privileges.

Users must establish a reputation for regular posting and participation in the forum prior to reserving a GDT. This excludes most new rookie users.
Exemplar GDT (i'd say it's an 8/10)

I need to learn how to do that GIMP or Photoshop or whatever you guys do.

We need to beat boston this is getting rediculous to the point of depressing expected endings. With Anderson out i just don't see it happening, but I shall never lose faith!

Ghost in the Shell 02-27-2012 10:54 AM

Lehner is gonna get shelled.

I use GIMP, the user interface is kinda annoying to learn, but once you get it it's not terrible. Not to mention there are tons of youtube tutorials

Answer the bell from who? Uh Oh Joe himself? Or will he just have one of his team mates stand up for him?

It depends if he views Turris as a 34 year old woman or not. I hear he can handle a situation like that just fine.

Oh piss off Corvo. A stiff breeze in your direction would be a cheapshot given how much you like to complain. Go ahead and let one of your teammates stand up for you.

Do it again Turris. Nobody on this team is afraid of the "Big Bad Bruins"

Corvo is the biggest ***** ever, he probably isn't even referring to himself. Turris would have no problem answering to the woman beater.

Loling at Corvo. U mad bro? Hopefully Neil lays him out and we beat them in their building.

Sovereign 02-27-2012 11:34 AM

Wait, Corvo beat down a woman? When?

See the points-per-game that those old-school Senators were putting up? Looks like they should've had bigger nets!

It's not like you would remember it either.

Side note: My only hope with these Corvo comments is that it starts some kind of line brawl/bench clearing brawl. Please.
