Hutzler 02-27-2012 01:26 PM

The Sami Pahlsson deal?
As far as I know...the deal was Sami Pahlsson for a pair of 4th round picks.

What are your thoughts?

Pahlsson to Canucks for two 4ths

Anzes Eyes 02-27-2012 02:37 PM

Glad we didn't give anyone up. I was hoping for a bigger player to come in. I'm happy with this team except I'd like another top 4 Right D.

LiveeviL 02-27-2012 02:51 PM

This is what you get I guess. But the accusations last year was no big names either, but they became bigger than anyone would have expected. At least, this is good for the Pk.

Mr. Canucklehead 02-27-2012 03:11 PM

Like the Pahlsson acquisition, and absolutely thrilled that we dumped Taylor Ellington. What a useless contract.

David71 02-27-2012 03:14 PM

finally a useless contract dumped.

VanEric 02-27-2012 03:15 PM

Someone took Ellington? :D

Balls Mahoney 02-27-2012 03:16 PM

Very pleased with this deal. Pahlsson will be an excellent soldier for this team in the playoffs and will greatly help this team as the playoffs grind it down. I also envision Gillis will try to re-sign Pahlsson this off-season. I think we have the bottom six in the league now and an elite checking line in the playoffs with Pahlsson.

pdefenestrator 02-27-2012 03:17 PM

So it's a 4th for Pahlsson and a 4th to take Ellington off our hands?

LeftCoast 02-27-2012 03:20 PM

Gees, I'm glad we were able to throw in Ellington.

Tim Calhoun 02-27-2012 03:31 PM

Why would Taylor Ellington be traded? His contract is up this year... it would have made more sense to dump Stefan Schneider or Tochkin.

timw33 02-27-2012 03:31 PM

We ditched ellington!

If anything, I'd guess it is to have a contract spot available to do something with Cory Schneider after the playoffs. Or in case anyone interesting shows up on the waiver wire.

Pretty solid pickup. Vintage Gillis-type move, bringing in a guy with solid past performances and connections to the team/players for a very minimal outlay of assets. Seeing Gaustad go for a 1st rounder, when we got a fairly similar sort of role player for a pair of 4ths and a contract dump...solid value. He should be good for us come playoffs.

But it feels like this was a move straight back to a 'conventional' checking 3rd line, and Pahlsson isn't going to provide a whole ton of the depth scoring we so badly lacked through much of last years playoffs.

BoHorvatFan 02-27-2012 03:50 PM

Honestly haven't been impressed by Pahlsson since he was with the Ducks. All I know is he plays like he's from Red Deer.

Agent007 02-27-2012 03:58 PM

Two 4th round picks is pretty much the same as a 3rd round pick.

Treefingers 02-27-2012 04:15 PM

It's pretty awesome that nobody gives a **** about this trade since the Hodgson one went down. I hope Sami will be at the same form he was when he won the Cup with the Ducks...but that seems unlikely methinks. Still, I think he'll work out well for the playoffs.
