Bernier better start. Quick needs rest.

Kingurentai 02-28-2012 03:25 PM

Please give Quick a rest.
Kopi/Williams need to wake the hell up.

Prediction: Now that Penner knows he's not traded, he's going into legit beastmode.

Capn Brown 02-28-2012 03:27 PM

Clifford is apparently scratched. Ggrrrrrr.......

That's not bad news. He has been horrible the last few games.

damacles1156 02-28-2012 03:33 PM

Clifford trying to do too much, story of the season for almost all Kings. Keep it simple stupid Kings.... It's why Slava looks sooooo good out there.

He makes the Simple play almost ALL the time. He makes quick reads on the ice.

Herby 02-28-2012 03:36 PM

This is a must win game.

Go Kings

Yes, Marty too. I love Doughty but the guy has fired a slapshot into the opposing team's shins so many freaking times it's ridiculous. Marty and Slava get the puck THROUGH to the net and actually cause rebounds and scoring chances.

I'm neither surprised nor disappointed by this.

Depends on if you want Lombardi fired or not. :sarcasm:

I don't think he wil be fired. If the Kings miss the playoffs, it will only be by a few points. On top of that, Lombardi will point to how competitive the West is with four teams fighting for one spot and use that as an excuse.

I hope I'm wrong though.

Syd.

I am not optimistic, I was up until the Carter trade, but I have a hard time believing AEG would let a potential lame-duck GM make such a big trade.

Looks like TL was just sold a new case of...

http://www.weherdcats.com/wp-content...53-300x300.jpg

So if DL is staying regardless, we might as well hope to sneak into the playoffs and pull a 2006 Oilers. (Hey maybe thats why DL has tried to acquire half that team)

I don't approve because it was the wrong play, but it was amusing when Kopitar tried to kill Rinne by unexpectedly launching a hard slap shot at his chest.

Cook24 02-28-2012 04:27 PM

I predict Kings beast mode tonight. Richards/Carter with a goal or two each. I really want someone other than King on their line though.

Was Taylor not fired under very similar circumstances after 05-06?

EDIT: Apologize to the mods for going semi-OT.

nikolai19 02-28-2012 04:41 PM

Carter is going to score tonight.

Maybe we differ, but I think the Carter for Johnson trade was very good for the LA Kings. I don't see why AEG would be against the trade, even if they are thinking of getting rid of Dean. Carter is the scoring winger that the next regime will need anyways and Johnson was dealt because Dean couldn't stop drafting defensemen and had too many NHL-ready defensemen.

I believe that Voynov, Martinez, Muzzin and Hickey are all NHL-quality defensemen and the Kings needed the room on the roster. Voynov wasn't going to get you Carter, but Jack did. Martinez, Muzzin and Hickey will battle it out for the #6 spot in the next training camp. Drewiske probably gets moved at the draft or is kept as the #7.

I still think that Voynov > Jack. Getting Voynov to turn pro and play in the AHL at such a young age really helped his development. He makes better reads on defense than Jack and has the wheels to get back into plays that no other Kings defenseman can. He helped prevent a clear-cut 2-on-1 against Nashville with his skating ability.

Voynov's point shot is probably the best on the team. He will be the Kings PP quarterback of the future.

I remember a lot of people saying that Murray wouldn't get fired and I didn't think he would make it past Christmas if he didn't change the system. He didn't change and was fired.

I think Lieweke's comment about letting Dean hire his own coach (Sutter) gives him to ammo to fire Dean. AEG will be on board with the firing if the Kings don't make the 2nd round.

KingsKnight 02-28-2012 05:00 PM

This is the mustiest must win game of the year...so far ;)

KINGS17 02-28-2012 05:00 PM

If Dean goes can they fire Leiweke as well?

Glad to see Bernier getting a start. I thought Clifford was one of the few players to take the puck to the net last night.

No objections here. Although it wouldn't so much him being fired as just keeping his hands off the Kings.

They need to give total control to someone who has won before and understands how to build a winner in 2012.

King Richards 02-28-2012 05:10 PM

Not to turn this into a Voynov thread, but man I have been really impressed with him the last couple of games. He has taken the body and used his own body positioning way more effectively than I remembered for a guy his size. I'm really, really excited to see how he develops next year.

That play was a perfect example of why Kopi is struggling this season.

He had space to take the puck between the circles and fire a shot, but chose to pull up at the blue line and let 'er fly. He's a perimeter player nowadays.

But he was in a great defensive position and didn't turn it over. :D
