Oilbleeder 03-02-2012 04:46 PM

The news thread has all the tweets and info. If CFD wants to go and multi quote and edit them, we can continue here maybe?

@PatsPropaganda: Apparently there was no bounty on Marshawn Lynch in last year's playoff game.

I guess this is another step towards flag football.

Don't like the bounty idea, but I fear the reaction and what we could be headed for. Flags on players by 2021?

There's a very big difference between playing hard and hitting hard vs rewarding the injury of opposing team's players. I don't think it will change much in that regard. Might change the complexion of the Saints in a big way though.

I hate Favre but damn he took the biggest beating by a QB I've ever seen that game. Tough SOB.

@SI_PeterKing
Story soon to be posted on the Saints and the bounties. Some stunning details to follow.
This should be good. Peter King wrote about spygate and revealed some stuff that wasn't public knowledge at that time. Belichick has held a grudge ever since and he still isn't talking to King. Looking forward to reading this story.

Sucks for Saints fans but I hope there are major sanctions including loss of several picks and reduction of cap space if allowed. Makes the entire sport look bad and WAY worse than Spygate imo.

To be fair Belicheat is a petulant child at times

CarlWinslow 03-02-2012 05:20 PM

Well, at least they weren't cheating their way to Super Bowls.

And you're kidding yourself if you believe New Orleans is or was the only team ever to do this.

They were just dumb enough to get caught and, by the looks of things, it certainly hasn't helped the past few years.

Spygate and Denver circumventing the cap in the mid-late 90's is still worse.

This post implies that a franchise would cheat their way to several Super Bowls. Who would do such a thing?

It won't happen but them not being able to re-sign Brees would be awesome.

From Gregg Williams:

I want to express my sincere regret and apology to the NFL, Mr. Benson, and the New Orleans Saints fans for my participation in the ‘pay for performance’ program while I was with the Saints. It was a terrible mistake and we knew it was wrong while we were doing it. Instead of getting caught up in it, I should have stopped it.

Bet you were one of those who said ''Pffft, yeah right'' whenever someone said that ''the Pats weren't the only team to ever steal defensive signals''.

Such ****ing hypocrisy. Love it.

Pete Rose treatment?

I wouldn't be shocked.

Because destroying Favre's ankle didn't help the Saints at all.

Makes the sport look like a bunch of senseless idiots trying to kill each other, and the details that have come out make it seem like some members of the coaching staff not only condone, but actively encourage trying to injure other players.
I'd say take a pick away, but then move on. I don't want to hear about this for the next decade, either.

I don't know about that.

But a year suspension I could see.

Definitely a large fine and suspension.

If the Rams try to distance themselves from this and get rid of him, then I could see every other team refusing to hire him because they don't want to deal with all the negative press. He's not even that good of a coach to begin with.
