3/8/2012 Panthers travel to the city of brotherly love.

Word is Dmitry Kulikov and Scottie Upshall skated before #FlaPanthers practice; Kris Versteeg did not

Lines at #FlaPanthers practice: 26-9-20; 14-18-8; 82-57-25; 12-13-12; 10-16. 6 D (no Jovo) and both goalies.

Egblad 03-06-2012 11:36 AM

I guess Versteeg is hurting worse than we thought. Not good, we miss him out there.

Fourth line should read 21-13-12

My fingers crossed he is targeting a Sunday return against divers.

And yes losing our only borderline prolific scorer for half the last quarter season is bad.

The only guy though thats irreplaceable has not been injured yet and I wont jinx it.

I really like those lines, wish Steeger was out there, though. Who sits once he's back?

FlaPanthers coach Kevin Dineen says Kris Versteeg not likely for #Flyers #Pens games this week; says not too serious but they being cau ...

Per GR.

In line with my guess.

I just think they're not giving us all the details. Hope it really isn't too serious, though.

The way skille played last game maybe he could play both left and right wing at the same time.....but it's good to see Barch help him out with another breakaway haha.

Maybe Dineen should put Barch and Skille in SO with Wolski.

When asked what about the Panthers makes him feel most comfortable, Weaver looks around an empty locker room. Well, empty except for the young kids running around playing a makeshift hockey game.

Weaver’s young son joins in the game along with the sons of teammates Mikael Samuelsson and Marco Sturm. All three wear smaller versions of their dad’s sweaters as they knock a foam puck around the room. Weaver watches and smiles.

“I really like what Dale Tallon and Mike Santos have done with this organization, and I’m really happy to be a part of it,” said Weaver, who has played in 486 NHL games, including No. 147 with the Panthers on Sunday. “These are guys who are on your side and they want what is best for all of us. It’s a family and becoming one more so every day. These are guys you want to battle for every night.

Weaver is one of the more underrated defensemen in the league — and he knows it. “My agent used to tell me I was most valuable to the team I was with,” Weaver said. “A general manager has to see me every day to know what I bring to the table.”

Former Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau once said he had to move Alex Ovechkin away from Weaver because the Capitals star forward couldn’t get any separation when Weaver was on him.

Another great section...good article, also talks abut Weiss and Dineen's dependance on him.

• Defenseman Erik Gudbranson said being benched after a poorly timed shift change during the third period of Saturday’s loss to the Predators probably had something to do with him missing Sunday’s game, although he is confident he will have a chance to redeem himself soon.

Gudbranson is expected to be back in the lineup Thursday at Philadelphia.

“As a young guy, I can see the game and learn from this,’’ Gudbranson said. ... I’m not going to question their decision, that’s for sure.

It said on the Panthers Twitter before that Kulikov was practicing, but still out a few more weeks. I thought about a week ago, Dineen said two more weeks. Not good news. Hopefully Versteeg can come back on Sunday.

Mr. Universe is playing right?

That is awesome Soupy. Can only hope Bryz is between the pipes and has one of his meltdowns tomorrow. By the way Soup, reading about your adventures always cracks me up. One of my favorite Whalers was Sami Kapanen. Any idea what he's up to these days.

He took a year off last year because of injuries (retired for good actually) and was GM of KalPa for that year, but returned for this season and KalPa leads FEL right now as regular season comes to an end next Thursday.

WhalerPanther 03-06-2012 07:17 PM

Thanks for the update on Sami there Soupy. He was a great guy and always had time for the fans. For those wondering where Allison Williams has been, she has been doing the sideline reporting and halftime show for the Big East Women's basketball tournament with ESPN. So contrary to popular belief the creepy troll did not get her. :handclap:

Seriously, if he ever gets bored of playing hockey- he could just form a cult, retire to solitary with it and talk endlessly about the universe.

WhalerPanther 03-06-2012 07:29 PM

Since Bryz has the "Dipietro deal" I don't forsee him retiring anytime soon. Didn't know Garth Snow moonlights as the Flyers GM also. Then again Holmgren was sauced all the time in Hartford as a coach so maybe he has continued down his Soupy Mogo path in Philly. :sarcasm:

Is the opposite of brotherly love brotherly lust? Or brotherly hate? Or maybe sisterly love?

WhalerPanther 03-06-2012 10:02 PM

I don't live in Arkansas so Im not sure. :)

Idk what happened to Jagr but Voracek's injury must've been on that Kronwall hit; Kronwall's such a beast.
