Habs in the Olympics

If the NHL decides to let the NHL players go to Russia for the Olympic, What Habs do you think have the chance to crack the Rosters for each country. I mean Plekanec is for sure going to play with the Czech Republic and Gionta is almost garanteed for team USA but how about Paciorretty crackin' the USA roster or David Desharnais for Team Canada, do you think they'd have a chance. How about P.K Subban

PernellKarl76 03-07-2012 02:31 PM

Plekanec will be there. Pacioretty has a shot, but not sure why youre saying Gionta is a lock.

Desharnais = No chance in hell.

Subban and Price = Maybe

Way too early to speculate. Its 2 years away. ALOT can change.

Lafleurs Guy 03-07-2012 02:34 PM

Price is almost a lock as is Pleks.
MaxPac will probably be there.
DD has no chance.
Subban has a good shot.

Dr Gonzo 03-07-2012 02:36 PM

I would almost venture a guess that Gionta is a lock not to get invited, but that's just me.

gusfring 03-07-2012 02:36 PM

Derharnais? C'mon...

Agreed. If he wasn't there in 2010 why would he be invited in 2014.

Stradale 03-07-2012 02:40 PM

Gionta almost guaranteed?

I think not.

DD?? Sorry but... :biglaugh:

Jmac1160* 03-07-2012 02:42 PM

if markov is half the player he used to be he will be there for russia. Cole has a shot for USA too. Paches is a lock too. Price will be there and as of now I don't see subban there. but thats right now, he has the potential to totally make the team.

Captain Smurf 03-07-2012 02:45 PM

Barring injury, Pleks will be there.

As of right now, Patches and Price look like Olympians too. Subban has an outside chance and Emelin has international history for Russia.

SeriousHabs 03-07-2012 02:52 PM

Price as 2nd or 3rd.
Emelin most likely.
MaxPac probably.
Emelin most likely.
Subban with an outside chance.

That is all.

Seriously??? People actually think Desharnais has a chance. You're aware that Stamkos didn't make the team in 2010. DD's been great but the competition is much, much, much too strong. Especially at center.

Cole is a "maybe" barring injury to wingers ahead of him. Desharnais is a big no; there will still be at least 13-15 forwards ahead of him.

Budaj may not even bea Hab 2 years down the road and there could be a chance that some Slovak goalie playing in European major leagues could outplay Budaj by then.

Crimson Skorpion 03-07-2012 03:03 PM

Depending on what Team USA is going for, both Pacioretty and Cole could have a shot. Pleks is guaranteed I would think. Price maybe as a 3rd. Desharnais? No chance. Emelin and Markov could be on Russia's blue line.

Why stop at two?

Markov - Emelin
Emelin - Subban
Gorges - Emelin
Emelin

Looks good to me.

Totally unreal. This is why people think Habs fans are delusional.

Young Gun 03-07-2012 03:05 PM

Bud2790 03-07-2012 03:06 PM

DD over guys like Crosby, Stamkos, Toews, Bergeron, Giroux and Getzlaf? You can even add M. Richards, B. Richards, Carter, E. Staal..

Edit: Stradale beat me to it.

USA will want the veteran leadership Cole brings, IMO. He's too good to leave off.

Desharnais is a big yes. I made my prediction a week ago and I believe it.

And for Budaj to not be on the team, two players would have to beat him out. Halak is obviously the starter, after that it's a toss-up. I'd imagine that Budaj and Janus would be the #2 and #3 barring someone lighting it up.

Habs 4 Life 03-07-2012 03:08 PM

Maybe even Pierre Gauthier get's invited to assist Holland and Yzerman
