The constant send down/call up routine

This is getting really frustrating for me, imagine what Louie, Aaron and Andreas are thinking.

This cant be good for there development.

Also...are we icing two players short? Or is someone coming back....as far as I know everyone who is injured is still injured.

Andy 03-07-2012 03:13 PM

I never understood why this calling up thing bugs habs fans so much.

They will have bigger impacts in Hamilton then in Montreal. Playing just a few minutes here will not do anything positive for them. Leblanc showed some good things and will be alright for the Habs in the long run but he will benefit more in Hamilton with the ice time and responsibilities he has there.

This is the same fan base that freaks out when management doesn't tell them every time an injured player changes a bandage.

Think of it like this. You have been working for years to get your dream job, you get a shot (a very limited one), give 110% and you actually perform decently. Instead of you keeping that job you get demoted. Imagine that happening 10 times a year...that would really get annoying.

habitue* 03-07-2012 03:17 PM

In a couple of years, the farm club will be in Laval. Metro tickets costs less than plane tickets.

WeThreeKings 03-07-2012 03:17 PM

Its only the organization saving money on their NHL salaries. After all, they have to pay for Gomez somehow.

And freaks out when a player gets picked up from waivers.

It's part of being in a team or an organization - they're professionals who are supposed to work for the best of the overall team. They get 10x the salary for every day they're up in the bigs, I'm sure they don't mind.

It's professional hockey though. It's part of the business. Let's also not act like any of the three guys mentioned earlier are tearing it up. There are injuries so they get called up. When the players return, they go down. It would be one thing if they were scoring at a ppg pace but they aren't. C'est la vie.

pine* 03-07-2012 03:18 PM

They are both on emergency recall, i.e. they have to go back when the injured players are healthy

So we're complaining about this on the basis that it might be...annoying to the players? Is that really the only reason?

habs03 03-07-2012 03:24 PM

Every time those guys get called up, every day they are on the NHL roster, they are getting paid their NHL level contract not the AHL. I think LL made a couple G' just for this little call up alone.

They are thinking how a few days in the NHL is equivalent to their AHL entire season salary.

That's ridiculous

What possible reasons could TB have had to do this? Can't they make up their minds?

CrazyShea 03-07-2012 03:52 PM

My sources are telling me Leblanc has been sent down and Gauthier hasn't informed him where he is going yet:sarcasm:

SnapVirus 03-07-2012 03:53 PM

Everytime we call up a player he is getting paid NHL Salary.
When we send 'em down they are paying AHL Salary.

Its like 10 000K everytime they are getting recall.

In AHL they are making what? 50-60 a year?

I think they are happy that way too.

Great (french) article about this phenomenon: http://www.radio-canada.ca/sports/ho...-rappels.shtml

TIL Chris Campoli is the team's NHLPA representative.

Habiton 03-07-2012 04:24 PM

...nevermind then. If its gonna be a bashfest, mods just delete the thread.

Leblanc and Engqvist were recalled on an emergency recall basis meaning they don't count against our four post trade deadline callup limit.

However because they are recalled on an emergency basis, as soon as other forwards are healthy, they must immediately be sent down.

Post trade deadline, there isn't much choice for these two unless we wanted to use our last two callups of the season (Geoffrion and Palushaj were the first 2 of 4).
