Detroit @ Nashville 7:00 - Coming Soon to a Playoffs Near You?

Bare bones, IPhone, Saturday night, let's get this party started edition.

Go Preds!!!

kypredsfan 03-10-2012 06:07 AM

I'm ready!

VFL615* 03-10-2012 08:11 AM

I will be in attendence for my first game vs the wings this year. I hope the building has that playoff feeling and the Preds run over a old an tired Wings team coming off another last minute win last night.

RaiderDoug 03-10-2012 09:17 AM

Anyone feel that this game is a "must win". Ok, I know that gets tossed around way too much. And in a season where we're both going to make the playoffs, neither DRW nor Nashville really must win this game.

But if there's one team out there that has the mental mojo over us, it's the Wings. And with the Blues somehow leading the central, we might end up in a first round matchup here. We've dominated the central except for the DRW, and frankly, we need to start showing we can beat them.

Next, if we want 4th place and home ice, tonight's the night to start doing it. There's not that many chances left to gain what's essentially 4 points on the team directly ahead of us. Not to mention keeping Chicago off our backs.

Win, and we shatter some of that Wings invincibility that seems to be dogging us this year. Lose, and that mountain we might need to climb here in a few weeks might just loom a little taller.

Chicago is still four points back with two more games played ... not exactly on our back, but definitely a light in the rear view. Winning in regulation tonight means the Preds still control their own fate in relation to the Wings. An OT win or loss and we then need a little help to pass the Wings in the standings.

I tink it is a must win from a mental standpoint. We have a good shot playing them in the first round.

much like man around here want to see the blues since we are 4-1 against them, we would be 1-4 against det with a loss.

works both ways here

usahockey22flyers 03-10-2012 09:44 AM

Lets Go Preds!!!! It's Rinne time.

cleangene 03-10-2012 09:52 AM

Same intensity from Thursday. MUCH better passing, puck control, and decisions. Get the lead AND ADD TO IT, NOT LETTING THEM UP FOR AIR. Let's win this game in regulation, PREDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iron Duke 03-10-2012 10:00 AM

The Wings were unimpressive in the first two periods against the Kings last night, but were able to keep the game close before their usual magic in the 3rd. Definitely not the same team without Datsyuk and Lidstrom, but still a dangerous one. That said, anything less than 2 points in regulation will be a disappointment, considering how banged up they are, and the fact they played a tough match last night.

Predatorbill 03-10-2012 10:01 AM

I believe this is a must win game if we expect that we will win the first round of the playoffs. DRW will be our opponent unless there is a total collapse by the Blues which l sincerely doubt.

DiXEN8 03-10-2012 10:30 AM

Wilson and Smith benched again?

Broom of the System 03-10-2012 12:06 PM

I've got two for tonight available. I can't go thanks to a grade 3 hamstring strain. They're aisle seats in section 202 row F. Face value with sth discount is over $100 for the pair. Just looking to move them at this point, I'll take best offer.

Cashville 03-10-2012 03:22 PM

Excited, been looking forward to this game for a while. Go Preds!

Pinguinla 03-10-2012 04:35 PM

Must win, need to be building confidence against the Wings, wouldnt want to face them in the playoffs with a mental block to overcome.

PredsChik 03-10-2012 05:26 PM

May God have mercy on their little misguided souls if there are Wings fans near me. 2 nights of limited sleep and a hangover have made me a not nice person.

Drake744 03-10-2012 06:10 PM

Call me crazy, but I think this is the (I won't say 'biggest') most anticipated regular season home game we've ever had. I say this for a few reasons:

1.) Preds-Wings is always a spectacle in our building. Saturday night cranks it up even more than it already is. It's a late-season game between two teams that are looking likely to meet AGAIN in the first round. More rides on this game mentally than anything else.

2.) I believe this is the first season that the Preds have been completely weaved into the fabric of the city. The team has never seen such popularity in Nashville, and it's not because we're on a playoff run, it's because we really have more and more FANS in town. People are following every game that didn't care one bit four years ago. So, subsequently, people want tickets for tonight's game. People have been trying to get tickets to this game for a long, long time. Upper bowl seats for this game were over 100 bucks each recently. This is Nashville we're talking about here. I think that speaks for itself.

3.) The only other game I can think of like this from an anticipation standpoint was Forsberg's first game in Nashville. Yes we were good that season, but people were going to see HIM above all else. Not tonight. People are going to show their Preds pride in full force and paying a pretty penny to do so. The city has had this date circled for a long time and it's finally here.

Let's do this.

I Will Son 03-10-2012 06:13 PM
