  • Flyers-Penguins' series history (prior GDT) -- http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...d.php?t=896514

November 17, 1998 -- John Vanbiesbrouck made 25 saves and the Flyers went 7-for-7 on the PK in a 4-1 road win. Pittsburgh, owners of the NHL's top PP at the time, had the man-advantage for nearly half of the game's first 25 minutes but failed to score. The 0-0 tie was erased when Keith Jones scored off an Eric Lindros feed 19 seconds after the Captain exited the penalty box following a double minor. Rod Brind'Amour snapped a 1-1 tie 9:30 into the third period. Eric Desjardins scored three seconds into a PP with 4:22 to play which resulted in a bench minor to the Penguins when coach Kevin Constantine tossed a water bottle in disgust at referee Stephen Walkom for the initial infraction then refused to send out his players for the faceoff. Roman Vopat, acquired earlier in the day from Chicago, made his Flyers' debut and on his first shift crushed Victor Ignatiev against the boards in the game's final minute ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QYAFD71R9M ). The Flyers entered the game 1-13-5 in the last 19 games at Pittsburgh.

  • 2011 -- December 8 -- The Flyers ended the night on top of the Eastern Conference after a 3-2 win in Pittsburgh. Danny Briere, who was struggling with the flu, scored in the first period on a goal deflected off two Penguins. Later in the opening period, the Penguins failed to score during a 5-on-3 for 1:10 while two Flyers' defenders played without sticks for part of the play. Wayne Simmonds (1-1-2) and Scott Hartnell added second period goals which gave Philly a 3-0 lead. James Neal and Evgeni Malkin (1-1-2) scored for the Penguins. Ilya Bryzgalov made 25 saves. The Flyers had a 29-27 shots despite Pittsburgh's 14-7 advantage in the third period. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0P0mJD8oNA

  • 2011 -- December 29 -- Jaromir Jagr and Max Talbot, two ex-Penguins, scored in the Flyers' 4-2 win at Pittsburgh. Jagr scored the go-ahead goal and Talbot had an ENG. Kimmo Timonen tied the game with his first goal of the season and Matt Read snapped a 9-game drought to make it 3-1. Sergei Bobrovsky, who improved to 4-0 at the Consol Energy Center, made 24 saves and his only allowed goal came 44 seconds into the game. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mADsQXuRywA .

  • 2012 -- February 18 -- Matt Cooke (2-1-3) scored twice and Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves in the Penguins's 6-4 win at Philly. Cooke and Jordan Staal (1-1-2) scored SHGs 1:43 apart to give Pittsburgh a 3-2 lead, Cooke's coming on a 2-man advantage which led to Sergei Bobrovsky (14 saves, 17 shots) replacing Ilya Bryzgalov (10 saves, 13 shots) with 3:03 left in the second period. Less than two minutes later, Eric Wellwood scored his first NHL goal to make it 3-3. Dustin Jeffrey scored in the opening minute of the second period for the go-ahead goal and the Penguins scored three times in the opening 9:02 to take a 6-3 advantage. Jaromir Jagr (2-0-2) scored twice in 18 seconds to give Philly a 2-1 lead. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8q735Tuctw
  • 2012 -- March 18 -- Scott Hartnell's goal with 0.9 seconds left in OT, the latest OT GWG in team history, gave the Flyers a 3-2 home win and snapped the Penguins' 11-game win streak. Hartnell tied the score 2-2 4:47 into the third period. Kimmo Timonen (1-1-2), celebrating his 37th birthday, got Philly on the board 31 seconds into the third period. Ilya Bryzgalov made 38 saves. Pittsburgh held a 40-27 shots advantage including 27-10 through two periods with a 2-0 lead. Craig Adams (1-1-2) and Kris Letang (0-2-2) factored into both goals. Scott Hartnell-Chris Kunitz penalties (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3B7Qt_bu9E). GDT MUSIC -- "Inject the Venom" by AC/DC

bennysflyers16 03-17-2012 08:06 PM

Take a cue from Winnipeg :handclap: Mind you Sidney Luganis tends to light us up the more we boo him.

Flyerfan4life 03-17-2012 08:09 PM

as much as i wanna watch this game. i know its gunna be ruined by poor one sided reffing..

dont think i have the heart or blood pressure to spare to sit throu the Crosby-show..

prolly find something else to do with my day and just watch the game on replay if its worth doing.

if ever there was a reg. season must win game, its this one.

ps watch Rinaldo get a shanny suspension for getting even near Cindy C. tomorow

Kaktus* 03-17-2012 08:12 PM

The game is going to be about: "O my god, Sidney Crosby"

I am gonna go hit some golf balls and PVR the 1st half so I can FFWD through the impending love fest. The broadcast is going to be torture:cry: Would love to see the Flyers win by 2 or more , but 2 rooks and Carle on D vs healthy Pens will be tough.

RevUpThoseGolfCarts 03-17-2012 08:53 PM

NBC is going to talk Crosby and mention the Pens performance without him throughout the whole game. Going to be a grind to watch this one.

Kaktus* 03-17-2012 09:16 PM

All in one montion Ozpick is going to talk a lot of ****.

MountainHawk 03-17-2012 09:31 PM

The mute button will be your friend tomorrow.

Cuiff 03-17-2012 09:33 PM

Total blowout! 5 - 1 Pens!

King Forsberg 03-17-2012 09:34 PM

The horrible reffing and blatantly one sided NBC crew is gonna make this soo tough to watch. Hopefully a nice win makes it worth it.

MountainHawk 03-17-2012 09:36 PM

You aren't going to need to commentary to know how dominant the Flyers are being as goals pour in in a 8-2 rout.

(Hey, it worked with Lehigh beating Duke on facebook).

bennysflyers16 03-17-2012 09:36 PM

Rags lose again  Funny how after they owned us all season they are the one's I really want in the 1st round . ( Over the Pens)

thelos 03-17-2012 09:41 PM

Sucks that Talbot might not be in this one

flyingsouth 03-17-2012 10:17 PM

Wouldn't a Briere hat trick be lovely tomorrow...

StandingCow 03-17-2012 10:52 PM

Briere doing ANYTHING would be nice.

Roo Mad Bro 03-17-2012 11:57 PM

I'll be at the game tomorrow.

Hoping for a W :)

Appleyard 03-18-2012 01:19 AM

The league have already gifted Crosby 2 assists since he has came back.

Hope the game is good, played fairly by the refs, an we destroy the Pens.

SolidSnakeUS 03-18-2012 01:38 AM

Don't suck. End of story.

drownedsailors 03-18-2012 01:47 AM

"Pittsburgh falls for the first time in a LONG time...Flyers win it 3-2"
Where have I heard that before?

Anyways, I'm really not looking forward to the Crosby slurp fest, but whatever I guess.

Edit: Oh and ****!! Another afternoon game :banghead:

kudymen 03-18-2012 04:25 AM

After Rangers' loss yesteraday, a win tonight would be awesome for us + I'd like to keep up with the Pens.

If we lose, we better tank for the 6th spot  (which might not be that bad either)

dats81 03-18-2012 04:28 AM

Pens riding a wave of euphoria right now, they have full roster, Flyers are missing like 5 players, afternoon starting time,...

Desperately trying to find a single argument why the Flyers gonna win this one

SolidSnakeUS 03-18-2012 04:33 AM

If the Flyers do win this, imagine the huge boost it will be for the team, especially up against a team that has won 11 straight.

dats81 03-18-2012 04:40 AM

Well, it didn't work out when they tried to break the Red Wings home streak.

Maybe they can try to target Crosby early to provocate some overreaction from the Pens and capitalize on them when they are piling up minor penalties...or Bryz gets red hot again...or Giroux has a flashback and starts to put them into the net in bunches like he did at the begin of the season.

It will definitely take something special to beat this team.

StandingCow 03-18-2012 08:17 AM

Please win.

G Money 03-18-2012 09:03 AM

we do not have the same record at the pens
