Formula 1

Any fellow F1 fans out there? Fun start to the season. Bruno Senna is no Ayrton.

:( is it this time of year again. 70 Laps and 3 overtaking moves. There was a time when f1 was amazing

You probably missed the last couple of years when KERS and DRS were introduced :)

Mgkibbles 03-18-2012 03:30 AM

I hate KERS and DRS, but it does make the races more exciting. Just find it a little pathetic that not every team has the technology.

The McLaren cars do seem really fast. On the late restart I thought Vettel was going to catch Button when Vettel set back to back fastest lap, but then Button pulled away and won easily. It was impressive.

There's a thread for F1 in the General forum:

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/forumdisplay.php?f=98

Lots of other sports in there as well if you're interested. I don't watch it too much but I do hang out in the tennis thread over there a lot. I was more of an Indy fan until the series was split and now I don't watch either of them anymore.

OzFlyers 03-18-2012 05:29 PM

Vettel & Red Bull look to be on song again this season. I still hate Hamilton!!

Mgkibbles 03-25-2012 03:25 AM

This Malaysian weather is nonsense. Everybody starts with intermediate tires and then the skies open up.

Bernie Parent 1974 03-25-2012 03:46 AM

what bad luck for M, getting spun on lap 1

ARGH !

dats81 03-25-2012 03:52 AM

Smart teams brought gazebos, others have to use umbrellas against the heavy rain.

Mgkibbles 03-25-2012 03:55 AM

I love how I take a break from browsing F1 boards to check on hockey and the first thread I see is an F1 thread!

I'm a fresh convert from Nascar/Indy. I used to go to the Medowlands Indy race back when I was a kid and then got in to Nascar when the open-wheels split. Making it a point this year to catch all the F1 races this year.

Still trying to figure out who to root for. The German in me says I have to go with either Mercedes or McLaren, and Schumacher was the man back when I first started watching, so I'm leaning towards Mercedes, but I suppose we'll see who wins me over. Either way, I can't believe I wasted my teens and early 20's on watching Nascar... The "rubbing is racing" mentality is fun at times, but the engineering and skill in this racing series is amazing.

And congrats on the playoff clinch! Just do me a favor and make sure you guys take those rags out, eh?

Get on the Sergio Perez train so you look smart when he starts winning Championships with Ferrari in a few years :D

OzFlyers 03-25-2012 04:57 AM

Go Webber and Ricciardo!!!

Mgkibbles 03-25-2012 05:51 AM

Perez was on the absolute limit for about half the race trying to catch Alonso and he almost pulled it off. Can't wait to see Perez in a good car. Gonna be a force.

whskybarJM 03-25-2012 11:22 AM

there is really only one form of racing I still follow and only 1 race I actually get excited to throw onto the speed channel. I am looking forward to seeing this monster at LeMans.
