I sure hope there's a 1% margin of error on that first stat

Prongo 03-19-2012 12:30 AM

HA great stat! And great win! I was there today in section 101 row 11 seat 13 and 14 with my dad. Second time I have had seats in that section and they are the best I think in the place.

And Kunitz. Especially Kunitz.

Bundy lost his marbles in the third. Some real doozies from him.

"Malkin is hurt AGAIN!? Get off the ice you clown! If I was still out there I'd clobber you!"

"Wow what a pathetic move by a pathetic player (Kunitz) He is only in this league because Malkin plays with him."

"Kris Letang going after Braydon Coburn is laughable. Coburn would make him wish he had a new haircut!"

Yeah that guy's an idiot.

I wish I saw his reaction to Hartnell scoring the OT winner

flyingsouth 03-19-2012 03:21 AM

Legendary win. Now, let's hope the boys can use this as a spur to help take them to the top of the East!

YuioIklo 03-19-2012 06:47 AM

This is the first time in a while I think about being first in the conference. We aren't even healthy. If Bryz keeps it up, we can SERIOUSLY contend for the cup guys. Plus, we,ll get Mez, Kubina, Talbot, JVR back... wow. Can't imagine if Pronger had stayed healthy.

Kaktus* 03-19-2012 08:22 AM

I guess Bylsma saw it differently:

Quote:

"I think the extracurricular stuff was the turning point in the game," Penguins coach Dan said. "It was a situation where they targeted players after the whistle and didn't get penalized for it, and I think that allowed them to get back in the game."

Is Byslma for real or just trolling? After Malkin tried to elbow Giroux in the head post-whistle? After Kunitz grinds Hartell's head into the ice?

What a tool. He's a great coach but a small man.

Scoopyten 03-19-2012 08:43 AM

The one announcer based problem I had, the one that really stuck in my craw, was on a play with Malkin and Coburn. Malkin tried to stickhandle around Coburn, but Coburn did a good job to ride him off the puck and eliminate the chance.

So what did the NBC crew have to say? They praised Malkin for "even trying that move". Coburn got no credit-or even a mention.

Next time they will praise Malkin for even thinking that move... NBC... what can you do?

All jokes aside, he did school Giroux and Timonen on that goal. One against 3 including Bryzgalov and still was able to put it in the back of the net.

BernieParent 03-19-2012 08:56 AM

Thanks, Swiper et al, for pointing out my error. Yes, Kunitz not Letang. Another case where my brain and fingers weren't in sync.

Poor Mr. Bylsma, having to lead his fine, upstanding young men against the horrible Flyers and their goon tactics. If only the league, or at least NBC, could have stepped in and protected them.

I think we need to add a variation to the Hartnellism: "Suck it, Kunitz!"

Kaktus* 03-19-2012 09:00 AM

some quotes from different sources

"We have to stay out of the box," Neal said. "We were getting a power play. Hartnell slashed Paulie (Paul Martin). I pushed Hartnell. He takes a dive. I end up in the box."

"That's the way (Hartnell) is: You don't know what to expect," Jagr said. "I played with him 60 games, and I still don't know what to expect."

"He's always there yapping or punching and some stuff," Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen said. "I'm really happy he's on our team."

"We had to change our attitude and the energy and the motion and the skating," Timonen said.

"To lose that way against that team, with him scoring," Penguins winger Pascal Dupuis said, shaking his head in disbelief and disappointment. "I don't know."

"He's (Malkin) good for a couple of (penalties) a game if you hit him and play him tight," Hartnell said. "You've got to know where he is at all times on the ice."

"We had our fair share of chances," Crosby said. "It's just a matter of executing, but they are a good team and they battled back."

"It was a playoff game," Hartnell said. "Odds are that we are going to end up with these guys in the first round. We got a point on them tonight. One step closer to getting home ice."

"I don't know if we were trying to be too fancy, but we wore them down at the end," Hartnell said. "Good things happen when you put the puck to the net and that happened tonight."

First place," Philadelphia star Claude Giroux said, "is our goal."

Link broken for anyone else?

Keaver 03-19-2012 11:32 AM

Section 224 Row 5 seats 11 and 12.

That game was incredible my girlfriend bought us the ticket and was so disappointed after the first 2 periods because the previous tickets she bought were to the Boston OT loss (was a great game and on my 21st birthday) and she thought she brought me to another loss. But this game turned out amazing and Hartnell has 5 goals in the 2 games I've attended.

Only thing bad about yesterday was the guy who made a right-hand turn in front of my car from the far left lane (the 4th lane on broad) to get into the parking lot when I was going straight and took off my front bumper....

Whatever helps him sleep at night.

Yesterday's game was the perfect ending to spring break. On and I love that Crosby is back, it made beating them so much better.

mirimon 03-19-2012 03:35 PM

Great game from Bryzgalov. He made a number of really strong saves, but most of all his positioning was impressive. Hartnell and Grossmann were our best skaters imo. Hartnell was at his best, scoring goals and trolling the Pens all night. We need to play more than 24 minutes and 59 seconds of hockey per game if we're gonna get past the Pens if/when we face them in the playoffs however. The second period was terrible.

It shows some charachter to come back from two-goal deficits against first the Bruins and then the Pens. It would be kind of neat if we didn't have to fight back from those two goals in the next few games however, it's a bit draining and we could do to preserve some energy.

Kunitz is growing into one of my most hated players. I guess that means I most likely would love him if he was a Flyer. I hope someone crushes him next time we face the Pens though.
