NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

Cally has been incredible. A couple of highlights there for Cally, first with that huge block for us and then scoring the game winner.
Thatís the way he plays right now and itís big for us.
- Henrik Lundqvist

Right from that Avalanche game, I thought we were playing well even though we lost.
I think weíre starting to get our groove back and weíre starting to play how we want and how we were playing earlier in the year.
Itís an important time of the year and weíve got to keep building and keep going.
- Ryan Callahan

I thought we defended well. Iíd like to see us finish some plays. I thought we had some opportunities to finish and we didnít.
But, all in all, against a team, a hard team even with their injuries, I thought we played a good game.
- John Tortorella

Heads Up: The GDT is a work in progress.

jBuds 03-23-2012 02:25 AM

Looks great, nicely done.

From our GDT:

5-1 Rangers

Pominville

Stepan, Gaborik (2), MZA, MDZ

Net Front Presence 03-23-2012 02:32 AM

3-0 assuming Lundqvist is in.

Gabby, Cally, Zucc.

Glennsoe 03-23-2012 02:50 AM

Buffalo are more desperate than us it seems, so this could be tougher than we'd like...

BlueshirtBlitz 03-23-2012 02:59 AM

Going to this game, I expect it to be great. Two great goaltenders battling it out, one team trying to distance themselves from Pittsburgh and the other trying to climb into the playoffs.

Dfence033 03-23-2012 03:04 AM

Build on the Wings win. With the Penguins winning, too many posters are looking at the boys behind us, but with the Blues losing, we should be looking ahead of us. 2 points back for the President's Trophy, 2 games in hand. Win your games, handle your own business, and you don't have to worry about either team.

Every game is starting to get that playoff atmosphere about it, and I think that's the best possible thing for this team. Still being forced to go for it, while the young guys get some big minutes in meaningful and hard-fought games can only mean good things going forward.

Going to go off-the-radar a bit and say that Tim Erixon has a big game (1g, 2A, +2) in about 15 minutes TOI. 5-2 win, 2 PPG (Erixon, Dubinsky).

Does anyone else get the feeling that all these blowouts waiting to happen in the regular season are getting stored in the Hockey gods karma, luck, and bounce bin for the post-season? :sarcasm:

The Rangers are saving their real finishing moves for the playoffs so they can catch teams off guard :naughty:

TigerJack 03-23-2012 03:48 AM

Hats on the ice for Zucc for the first time?

Ilovemymum 03-23-2012 04:21 AM

4-2 Cally + Boyle*3. A confident Zucc starts aiming on Boyles head instead of blade and three deflected passes goes in. Cally seals it EN.

When it comes to Zucc there was alot of talk he did not fit into Torts system. But maybe he becomes a more complete 2-way player under him. Its surely good for him to develope defensive skills. He even played SH in CT. I will have a beer when I see him play in PK for the Rangers

Killem Dafoe 03-23-2012 04:44 AM

i. love. those. lines.

Rangers are overdue for an offensive expolosion. Don't know if it's going to happen against Buffalo, tho. Ryan Miller and the Sabres have given up more than 3 goals only once in their last 16 games, during which time they have gone 11-2-3. I think our boys will pull out a W tonite, but it's gonna be another nail-biter.

Nail biters, we are the kings of those. I wont be able to watch tonight, on amtrak for a long ass time. Will be lookking on mobile gamecenter app and posting. LGR

NHL94com* 03-23-2012 06:15 AM

I'm tired of winning games by 1 goal. So tonight, my prediction is the Rangers blow this team out ala Penguin style. I say we win this one 6-2.

:)

Megustaelhockey 03-23-2012 06:24 AM

**** MSG2. That is all. Home games on MSG2 are like driving over kittens.

mrhockey193195 03-23-2012 06:33 AM

Is Hank for sure starting? I assumed Marty would get the start tonight, and Hank would play tomorrow in Toronto.

NYRSchrute217 03-23-2012 06:54 AM

Such a critical game again. Buffalo is going to come out desperate

Yep.

Both games are on MSG 2 this weekend. I'm assuming the Leafs/Rangers game will be blacked out on NHL network for in market customers. Why the **** doesn't comcast carry MSG 2 anyways?

Enough complaining out of me, lets go Rangers!

Punxrocknyc19* 03-23-2012 07:19 AM

let's go rangers....I hope Prust Rupp or Bickel take care of Kaleta for that little cheapshot on Del Zotto....

darko 03-23-2012 07:24 AM

Keep it going. 3 in a row.

LGR

Ail 03-23-2012 07:36 AM

Okay, so, I really need Henrik to post a SO or 1 goal game and Miller has to get blown out here or I am going to get bounced in the second round of fantasy playoffs after holding 1st place all year.

Just call me GMGM.

lgr! (please...)

silverfish 03-23-2012 07:50 AM

I think we're seeing Marty tonight, but will wait for confirmations there of course.

Watching the game with the girlfriend, diehard Sabres fan, this is one of those games where I wouldn't mind winning in overtime ;)

They need points and are rolling, we need points and are coming together, should be a fun game.

LGR

McDonagh 03-23-2012 07:58 AM

So what do you guys think? Lundqvist tonight? the 4 game stretch to finish off this month honestly looks like Biron could take on all of them, haha. Gotta keep Lundqvist on his toes though, but it's hard not to think Biron will get 2/4 of those games.

darko 03-23-2012 07:59 AM

I think Biron goes tonight and Hank tommorow against Leafs.

Riche16 03-23-2012 08:22 AM

Tough one tonight. Score 1 against Ty Conklin... How many do we get against a rejuvenated Ryan Miller?

Gonna have to bring their A games

LGR!!!
