New Taylormade Hockey sticks

Was wondering if anyone tried their sticks? For those who don't know, Taylormade is one of the biggest golf brands out there.

:shakehead

They're not even released yet. And it's only their club-head technology with a CCM shaft.

Doubt that'll translate too well into hockey (?)

I was watching the Canucks vs Avs game tonight, and Landeskog is already using a TM twig.

Nugent-Hopkins has been using one also

"The CCM RBZ stick and all of its technologies will be officially introduced on June 22, 2012 at the NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh with the retail launch to follow later in the year."

SMR 03-25-2012 08:18 AM

It will be interesting to see what "technology" Taylormade brings to the stick. It does look good though.

Wilch 03-25-2012 09:56 AM

The CCM RBZ lol... They should've at least named their stick RPZ if they're trying to move into hockey. (RBZ = Rocketballz)

AIREAYE 03-25-2012 01:59 PM

Not RocketBallz, RocketBladez :)

Aha, I stand corrected then :)

Irrelevant, but I own a RbZ driver and it's pretty awesome.

Joey McMoss 03-25-2012 02:52 PM

It looks beautiful. That's all I know about it. Can't wait to try it out next season.

AIREAYE 03-25-2012 03:03 PM

Hollow blade core means NO FOAMS. In terms of tech, that's about all that's been released.

Isn't that going to reduce puck feel?

That's what they said about graphite sticks.

AIREAYE 03-25-2012 03:20 PM

The word 'reduce' is very vague. I'm sure it will feel different compared to other sticks, but describing how a stick feels has always been vague. I have no idea what other construction aspects the RBZ will have, at the moment, that is all that they have released.

I have been pretty loyal to Taylormade for the last 10 years but I dont see how their expertise would transfer over to hockey.

johnjm22 03-25-2012 07:36 PM

The more competitors on the market the better.

Danglous 03-25-2012 08:44 PM

I'm oddly intrigued...

These sticks are CCM sticks, just with Taylormade tech since they are part of the same parent company.

ponder 03-25-2012 09:29 PM

Doubt I'll like them, haven't been a fan of CCM sticks in the past.

Supposedly they developed a new type of blade where energy is stored in the face of the blade and then transferred back to the puck to add force to the shot. I'm skeptical, because unlike a golf club where the ball comes off a point on the face, the puck often travels the length of the blade on a shot.

Wildturkey12 03-25-2012 11:02 PM

I get the feeling that they are just using the name to try and increase sales. The market share that Taylormade carries in the golf industry is insane. Why not try to carry it over to the hockey market.

Royal Canuck 03-26-2012 01:13 AM

might try one out depending on the cost. CCM sticks are ridiculously expensive.

??

A top end CCM is cheaper than a top end Easton or Bauer. Do you mean that for the quality, their value doesn't compare?

Will I be able to shoot a puck 350 yards?

If so, the spectators really need to be aware...

That stick is interesting, might give it a try someday if the price isn't too high.

And so are the newly released TaylorMade drivers. :)

I'd expect these to be pretty pricy.
