2012 Entry Draft: Top 10 Montreal Canadiens Wish List (Poll #3)

We can very much assume that the 2011-2012 edition of the Montreal Canadien will finish in the bottom third of the NHL standing. With that in mind, what would be the top 10 players from the 2012 Entry Draft that the Habs should be targeting as their first selection? To reformulate the question: in order, what is the 10 players the fans on this board want to see wear the Canadiens jersey in the future.

In a series of 10 consecutive poll, ten players will be up for voting each round. The first ten players up for voting will be taken from the latest International Scouting Service list. You will be invited to nominate a player to be add in each rounds.

The poll should last between 24-48 hours and will be close automatically. In case of a tie, a poll between the best nominees will be add. In case of a tie for the player to add onto the list, the first one to receive the tying amount of vote will be the winner.

I understand Galchenyuk is a big centre with skills, but he's a rish at #3. I would have a hard time taking him over Forsberg.

Beaker 03-27-2012 06:32 PM

Going with Dumba

sukimono 03-27-2012 06:33 PM

Forsberg.. again.

tinyzombies 03-27-2012 06:52 PM

I liked what I saw on video of Galchenyuk. His game seems like it would translate well and be what we need, but maybe Dumba would be a good replacement for Markov?

Still reading up on this stuff, so haven't seen Forsberg video yet.

Forsberg is 17 playing against grown men, and he's not getting a lot of minutes mostly playing 3rd line minutes.

He could be NHL ready next year, or he could be sent back which wouldn't be a bad idea since he's playing in a very good league.

Hopefully this helps:

Just a few facts:

*Allsvenskan has 6 "point per game"-players
*QMJHL has 46 "point per game"-players
*WHL has 54 "point per game"-players

Filip Forsberg plays about half of his games on the 3rd line and the rest on the 4th line, while most of the top prospects from QMJHL/WHL plays on the first line.

Forsberg, as a 17 years old, this season had 17p (the second best 17 year old had 4p)

For the previous years for the best 17 years old in Allsvenskan:
10/11 = 11p (Victor Rask)
09/10 = 6p
08/09 = 17p (Ekman-Larsson playing first pairing)
07/08 = No player
06/07 = 3p (Mikael Backlund)
05/06 = 4p (Patrik Berglund

Important to notice is also that he is only a few weeks away from being 2013 eligable (born 13 August 1994). While 17 points might not be great for a top pick, it's hardly bad due to his young age, his time on the 3rd/4th line and Allsvenskan's relatively low scoring.

There you go.

Yes, but not offensively

Watsatheo 03-28-2012 12:37 AM

Fillip Forsberg then my next pick would be Alex Galchenyuk. We need to be in the top 4.

Murray or whoever is the best defenseman in the draft.
