Precaution for Bryzgalov?

DrinkFightFlyers 03-27-2012 08:04 PM

I guess they couldn't recall Leighton at this point?

flyingsouth 03-27-2012 08:35 PM

I'm assuming that calling up Chihuahua means they don't expect to have to use anyone other than Bob before Bryz returns, right?

If Leighton was recalled, he would have to clear re-entry waivers.

It appears that Bacashihua is an emergency recall since there is just one healthy goalie (Bobrovsky). He does not have to be subjected to re-entry waivers.

The hope is Bryzgalov can return for this weekend's games but that is a best-case scenario.

They signed cash for this case, a non waiver eligible emergency goalie.

Another injury on D? We knew Bryz would miss next game but what's up with the MAB call up?

Yep, April 7th 2007 was his last start in the NHL. St. Louis lost 5-1 to Minnesota and Bacashihua was pulled after the first period.

apparently

Defenseman Kimmo Timonen joins Bryzgalov on the Flyers' injured list, as well. The veteran defenseman is listed as day to day with an upper-body injury.

"Kimmo is on a maintenance thing," Holmgren said, "and part of the plan is to take this day off."

I suppose Kimmo will be back for this weekend if this is indeed a "maintenance thing".
