Phaneuf for Schenn, JVR?
Phaneuf can be a great #2 when Pronger comes back (Hopefully) and can fill in for #1 spot for now and Schenn got beat by Couturier getting a spot and JVR is rumored to have value comparable to L.Schenn so IMO the price to move up from L.Schenn to Phaneuf is a top prospect, So what do you think?

Phaneuf sucks on D, slow and imo overpaid.
I am not trading that much for Phaneuf.

Phaneuf is just a Meszaros upgrade really. We don't need another defensemen with tons of talent who likes to take himself out of the play by making big hits. Phaneuf also has some Carle-esque qualities with the puck that would make some people here in Philadelphia rage.

You don't explain how that top prospect, once the top prospect in the world, made juniors and even international competition look like a joke and is now only 20.

You also don't mention that the 2nd overall in a weak draft class put an entire NHL playoff team on his shoulders at the age of 21, just last year.

Toronto Maple Leafs fans seem to have this bad habit of talking down all of the players they want to acquire by mentioning facts completely out of context or situation meanwhile expecting the other person in the discussion to go, "Oh, you're right. They suck. Here's your players. What an awesome deal the salesman told me I was getting!!"

Schenn is playing on the 2nd line and Couturier on the 4th. Schenn gets PP time, Couturier doesn't. How exactly did Couturier beat out Schenn again? They're both contributing in the line-up right now in different ways.

I was going to go with Briere for Phaneuf straight up.

Only in Toronto is it viewed as a good idea for one of the worst defensive teams to trade their best (albeit overpaid and overrated defenseman) for two young inconsistent forwards...

That being said I wouldn't touch this or really any trade with Toronto they have almost nothing of value that we need.

Phaneuf? I wouldn't give ANYTHING FOR HIM. Zero. He'd be our highest paid player or thereabouts, and be the 15th best guy on our team. Pass.

Burke built the core of his team around a Captain who would not make our top 4, a smurf scoring winger who is too tiny to check anyone, on the rare occasion he tries, and a goalie who'd played well in half a year during garbage time.

The Leafs are screwed for another year of futility next year, then Burke will get fired and the new GM will have to start over. Playoffs by 2018 or bust! Go Leafs Go - Golfing.

I wonder what L. Schenn's trade value is right now among GMs, considering the disastrous season he's put in. It seemed like Schenn was on the highlight reel every night for all the wrong reasons. And to think I was somewhat tempted by JvR for Schenn when it was first emerging.

i wouldnt want Phaneuf for either schenn or JVR let alone both..

The only player on Toronto with any real trade value that can be moved is Gardiner. I would consider a JVR for Gardiner +(at least a 2nd this year since it is so high up in he round). Luke Schenn's value has dropped precipitately this year do to play and contract.

This is going no-where fast.
