Leafs vs Somebody - Tonight at some point

Don't know if anyone else realized it but there's a game. It may or may not be tonight, and it may or may not be against the flyers.

Updates from Practice:

James Mirtle ‏ @mirtle
Carlyle says Reimer hasn't been shutdown for the season but that it may happen at some point.

If Steckel doesn't play, Carlyle's checking line would be Ashton-Connolly-Crabb tonight.

Paul Hendrick ‏ @HennyTweets
Dave steckel(lower body) will undergo an mri this afternoon. As of now he's a warmup decision says randy carlyle.#leafs

The enthusiasm is off the charts here!

Bobrovsky is starting for Philly, Gus is most likely starting for us.

Leaf Rocket 03-29-2012 11:20 AM

hahah i love the thread title bud.

Hurt 03-29-2012 11:24 AM

GO LEAFS GO! Play hard.

Darylman 03-29-2012 11:33 AM

I can't possibly believe Gus would be starting after that last performance. He should never see another NHL net again. Anyone left defending him is absolutely clueless.

JMcLeaf 03-29-2012 11:34 AM

Gus is starting

Guess they want to traumatize Rynnas as little as possible. If anyone is going to be screwed up by these last 5 games might as well make it the guy who probably isn't here next year .

Countdown is on. Another 5 games and we'll never see him again.

No Lupul, no Kulemin, no Reimer no Steckel. Steckel has been the most dynamic player in the lineup recently. Most concerning? no heart, anywhere throughout the lineup. Lets hope they play for their own pride tonight. Like Anaheim. Love the win or die trying attitude.

you'll see him again. Likely in Carolina where all Leafs go before they come back to haunt us.

I totally agree, and yet I've probably said this 5 times before, only to have Gus reappear and play just well enough to hang on.

Maybe instead of Monster he should be called Gus the Ghost

shaner89 03-29-2012 11:46 AM

**** Gus... Play scrivens or rynass... See what we have

Gus is done in the NHL. ****ing putrid goalie

Cappayne 03-29-2012 11:48 AM

You're off the case BOBROVSKY!

Leaf Rocket 03-29-2012 11:49 AM

somewhere...iarts is crying in a corner.

Leaf Rocket 03-29-2012 11:50 AM

bobrovsky can be available apparently.

Pi 03-29-2012 11:51 AM

Alrighty Gus, time to put in a prime tank performance. At least 3-4 points for Giroux, but make sure you shutout that POS Hartnell.

+1. But, but, Gustavsson has saved our season; not once, but twice.

Duffman955 03-29-2012 11:51 AM

There is game today?

Against who?

The description is too vague. LOL

KingBuzzo 03-29-2012 11:55 AM

2006-07 Curtis Joseph went 18-31-2 with Phoenix, and 2008-09 Curtis Joseph played 21 games going 5-9-1 for us, now that must instantly make him the one of the worst goalies to play the game ever with your logic, right? I hope if Burke doesn't re-sign him that he goes to a team where he has a stellar season and he shuts us out every meeting just to prove a point to posters like you.

Gus is coming back whether you like it or not. Burke said repeatedly after January that Gus saved the season after Reimer went down. I would think that is a vote of approval from management. Burke is going to experiment again with an unexperienced goalie tandem, without having them first play behind a veteran.

I can't wait for these last 5 games to be over. We honestly have no chance against Philly tonight without icing a complete healthy team. Plus Philly is playing for something. We don't need to play for what we are going for. :naughty:

Darylman 03-29-2012 12:32 PM

hahahahahahah. Gus is coming back? Are you kidding me? He's the worst goalie in the NHL and it's not even close.

forsberg 03-29-2012 12:34 PM

Gus has to play tonight. Let him give up a few goals, then put in Rynnas/Scrivens. Just like last game.

We surely do not want Rynnas/Scrivens playing the whole game.

Can't see that happening, no chance.
