That's pretty low, dude. Yes, he has 0 experience as a GM but same can be said of just about every name mentioned in this thread.

Peanut just didn't have the IQ required to be a GM. Just like Milbury and Melrose. I have no idea what they were thinking but one has to assume not much thought went into it.

I do a lot of interviewing and sometimes it's just a feeling. You have to determine what matters most because no single candidate will have all the qualities you look for. In McGuire's case, his sheer knowledge and networking abilities impress me.

He'd probably trade half the team away to acquire Dion Phaneuf.

He'd offer Parise whatever he wanted.

Waking up at 4pm isn't real life! You must be a greviste :P

For you guy's sake I hope Giguere doesn't get the job. He hands out contracts like candies, Smyth, Hannan and Stastny were all his work.

SeriousHabs 03-29-2012 03:34 PM

These threads seem like a name tossing contest lol.

*I want these people to be coach and GM but I can't explain why!*

I like him but not convinced what he can do in the cap era. He looked really good with the Avs when there was no cap. It's a big transition imo.

No everyone wants Roy, then he can hire his son to sing the national anthems.

Why? Pierre Lacroix was the best GM in the league when he quit his job......

i cant believe some poster are asking for McGuire.....

Lacroix>>>McGuire

Weird feeling today thinking that PG is gone. Part of me remembers how happy I was when JM was fired but then it turned into a disaster.

I will feel even more relieved when that $7M cap hit is gone.

DJ Breadman 03-29-2012 03:41 PM

Mike Boone on prime time sports was just tossing out names for possible gm and he said Pierre Maguire and Bob MacCown went NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hahaha hilarous, Boone also said he would not be good cause he is too thin skinned. Bob mentioned Lou Lam, said that he is not happy with the owner in NJ cause he goes over his head and makes decisions and rumor has it he may leave. Told boone to mention it to Molson.

I don't think he's in good enough shape in terms of health to get a GM anymore.

Hartley? F no....

Hoping and praying Bergevin is brought into the Habs organization in some type of role, if not GM, then asst GM, etc.

Habs should not be cheap when it comes to hiring their managerial staff...hiring the next GM is not the only solution, the staff that will eventually surround him is just as important.

Bergevin is one of the brightest hockey minds in the NHL right now...+ he's a Montreal native, speaks french (for those that find that particular attribute important) and has had RECENT success in the NHL.

lol hospital hours. lately i've been all over the place on days, evenings, some overnights with some double shifts thrown in. my routine is all outta whack so i just sleep when i can sleep and wake up when i have to wake up. thursday is a random day, people don't really go to ER's today so i'm anticipating some free money.

Who could do a better job as HC? just remember that he need to speak french...

Jack Bourdain 03-29-2012 03:46 PM

It seemed to me that Molson approached Gainey after Gauthier's firing, and it was Gainey himself who decided to step away from his role as a consultant.

Saying he was fired would be unjust.

I would prefer Bergervin or Brisebois over some "big name" or loudmouths like Roy and McGwire. Those guys have lived and operated in the cap world for the last few years.
