Around the League - 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs (TV Schedule in Post #1)

Starting off with TV, since it's complicated and I want to be sure everyone knows where to catch games.

NBC, the NBC Sports Network, CNBC and the NHL Network will bring as many as 105 Stanley Cup Playoff games. NBCSports.com and Comcast Sportsnet will also assist in coverage online and on a local level, with numerous exclusive features.

Starting Wednesday, April 11th, all four networks will televise the Conference Quarterfinal round. NHL Live will air every night, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET, and NHL Post-Game will wrap things up when all action is done.

NBC will have exclusive coverage April 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd, with doubleheaders on the 15th and 22nd. All other games are subject to local blackouts.

Exclusivity will begin starting with the Conference Semifinals. In the past, VERSUS was only allowed two games per second round series. Starting this year, NBC, NBC Sports Network, CNBC and NHL Network (to a lesser extent than in Round 1) have exclusive coverage of the entire second round. NBC will be on the air April 28-29 and May 5-6.

NBC Sports Network will air all but two games of the Conference Finals, with NBC televising a game from each series on May 19th and 12th. NBCSN’s coverage will be exclusive.

The Stanley Cup Final will go by the same broadcast format as in years past, with NBC televising games one and two, and 5-7 if necessary. NBC Sports Network will air games three and four.

NBCSports.com will provide online coverage. it will include “second screen” online streaming of every game on NBC, with a companion screen that provides live, in game highlights, “Star Cams”, chats with ProHockeyTalk, and a “Spotlight Cam”, that provides a look from above center ice.

http://puckthemedia.wordpress.com/20...yoff-coverage/

A bit of a bummer (actually more than a bit) - we'll only have Bob and Jim for Round 1 this season. If the Kings advance, it'll be national coverage only on the NBC networks. FSN coverage will cease after Round 1.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !

Where do we send in the Letters and e-mails for the write in campaign to correct such a travesty ? Bob Miller MUST CALL the KINGS games ... especially when we hoist the Cup this year :sarcasm: ;)

I would hope (KingsVision - are you listening?) that the Kings would work out an arrangement to have Bob and Jim (or Bob and Nick) call the games on radio or online if the Kings get to Round 2+.

Bob HAS to call the games somewhere. He just has to. Get 'er done Kings.

Herby 04-04-2012 07:33 PM

Sucks for Nickson because he isn't some newly hired guy, but if the Kings were to make it deep the fans are going to want Bob calling things, and IMO rightfully so.

Bob has taken a drastic step back the last couple of years and probably only has a few years left calling games, it would be great to see him call a Kings cup winning team this year or next and then maybe calling it a career.

Kings man 4 life 04-04-2012 07:36 PM

Honestly it would be such a travesty of the Kings win the Cup and he's not calling the game even if just for Kings vision, I wanna hear him freak out after waiting for so long, he deserves it and the fans deserve to hear him while he does.

Just a bump. Schedules announced tomorrow.

Hatter 04-09-2012 10:01 AM

there really ARE SO MANY great matchups. I won't leave the tv room

kingsholygrail 04-09-2012 11:05 AM

lol Only Kings game I'll be able to watch will be a possible game 5.

And that's crap that Bob and Jim will only be for round 1.

bobafettish* 04-09-2012 11:11 AM

just happy there isn't b2b away home games.

Sydor25 04-10-2012 07:20 PM

Edmonton is picking #1 again. Three in a row.

They are going to pick another forward.

DocWest 04-10-2012 07:21 PM

Three number one picks in a row and they'll still be a crap team next year. I feel bad for Columbus.

CNS 04-10-2012 07:23 PM

That sucks. Would have rather seen CBJ get it. I love Yak. But I guess this means Edmonton will be just like the old Caps - all offense, no defense. And we all know how successful the Caps have been in the playoffs....

TonySCV 04-10-2012 07:24 PM

Columbus has the worst luck.

DocWest 04-10-2012 07:26 PM

Columbus can't get no respect.

KopitarFAN 04-10-2012 07:27 PM

It wouldn't shock me to see them trade it. For a package like what DL says he was offered for #2 in '08 when he went to AEG and said "do I have to make the playoffs next year?"

TonySCV 04-10-2012 07:30 PM

I just dropped by the Jackets forum. Some folks probably should be on suicide watch.

This did crack me up though:

Wouldn't shock me either. I wonder if Tampa would have any interest in moving up. They've got 10th overall, the Wings 1st, two top 10 2nd rounders, plus two more 2nd rounders. That is more than enough assets I would think for Edmonton to pick up a few solid prospects instead of the one great one.

That, and Tambellini is a dick. :snide:

Jason Lewis 04-10-2012 08:25 PM

LMAO I laugh at how happy Tambellini was.

Smile it up big guy, you'll probably draft Yakupov and ignore defensemen AGAIN and still be a ****ing terrible team.

Muzzinga 04-10-2012 09:24 PM

wow at Bettmans comments about Crosby. What on earth was he thinking? Just how, in any way, could he think it would be good for him to comment on the situation?

the guy never comments on anything like that ever (neither does any other commissioner in other leagues), yet he speaks out to defend a player from people talking him down. This is after he fines Torts 20k for saying that Crosby and Malkin are whiners and having a backlash about it and the whole favoritism argument come to the forefront

Having an opinion is fine, but your the damn commissioner, you can't just go on air and proclaim your love for Sidney Crosby like that.

I don't think what he said was bad or anything, its just a stupid thing for him to do in the wake of fining Tortarella and receiving the abuse from cynics who believe he favors the pens
