Speculation: Grigorenko to Edmonton. Is that even fair?

So Edmonton is probable to get the 2nd pick and would be able to draft Grigorenko. Eberle, Hall, RNH, Grigorenko... Shouldn't there be a rule against getting top picks more than 3 yrs in a row? I'm not an EDM hater or something. And I honestly expected them to do better this season. I was just thinking if that is a fair situation by now.

fly4apuckguy 04-08-2012 12:18 AM

It's fair. Those are the rules.

DBU 04-08-2012 12:19 AM

It's fine. When ELCs are up, let them deal with that. ;)

Skip2myBordyloo 04-08-2012 12:20 AM

sure, they're offense will be amazing, but they're D will still suck and they're goaltending will be mediocre.

passive voice 04-08-2012 12:20 AM

It's the universe's way of apologizing to northern Alberta for TambLoweini

We'll have 0 problems with that, don't you worry.

And if only you weren't allowed to suck so much consistently. :help:

Elever 04-08-2012 12:22 AM

I think within a couple of years their defense will be just fine, but they do need goaltending help.

oilersfan11 04-08-2012 12:24 AM

The Oilers with Grigorenko will still have a good chance next year to draft Mackinnon!

Qrispy 04-08-2012 12:24 AM

Oilers are a bad team, so they get a good pick. Honestly, how hard is that to understand?

i think they have alot of tweeners on D nobody fits a top pairing role

HawkinMI 04-08-2012 12:25 AM

If they keep getting high picks year after year, the elite prospects they're getting must not be helping very much.

Fair's fair.

Have you been following Dubnyk in 2012?

Soderberg 04-08-2012 12:25 AM

No it's not fair. Stop sucking already.

Ashasx 04-08-2012 12:26 AM

A defense you could cut with a dull, plastic knife.

Sure, if they want to spend $28M on 4 forwards, go ahead.

lol worthy if they draft another forward.

Hard to do when you have very bad hockey players on the team.

Yeah I have, especially since Nick got traded there.

The best way to describe Dubnyk is inconsistent. I have seen some of the worst goals in pro hockey scored on him this year, and also some of the best saves.

I am not yet sure he is a day to day NHL goalie.

WJG 04-08-2012 12:28 AM

What would be really unfair is if Columbus took Murray and allowed Edmonton to take Yakupov.

Three future 40 goal scorers (Eberle, Hall, Yakupov) on one team would be ridiculous.

Four....NUGE????

Ducks DVM 04-08-2012 12:29 AM

It's the way the league is set up. Do you want to strip a few players off the Penguins too?

They dealt with the season, they get the pick.

Puckgenius* 04-08-2012 12:32 AM

What happened to deslaurier? Bring him back, he was actually pretty good.

KingJet* 04-08-2012 12:33 AM

They'll probably take either Dumba or Murray, thats like the only D they need

oilersfan87 04-08-2012 12:35 AM

Tambo will probably trade the pick

fly4apuckguy 04-08-2012 12:35 AM

Always take the best player first. Trade later.
