Fairy Tale Ending for Staubitz

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/sports/...937/story.html

Great article here, shows how much the guys liked him.

Le Tricolore 04-08-2012 08:45 PM

I really like Rusty.. I hope he stays.

Dr Gonzo 04-08-2012 08:50 PM

Dave Stubbs has the best Habs articles, by far.

Beaker 04-08-2012 08:53 PM

He'll be back!

Analyzer 04-08-2012 09:07 PM

Great guy.

Would not be mad if he came back.

hogtownhabsfan* 04-08-2012 09:10 PM

He plays his role well, him and and White on the 4th line are beauties.

Crimson Skorpion 04-08-2012 10:02 PM

If the Habs can bring him back, what a solid 4th line that would be with him and White there. White could start to act tougher around the heavyweights and have Staubitz take care of business. It really is a win-win for the both of them.

I loved Staubitz for the bit that he was here this season. Seems like a great team guy to have, played really strong, hit well and dropped the gloves when needed.

SouthernHab 04-08-2012 10:11 PM

Needed someone like Staubitz on this team for a long long time.

Still amazes me that some Canadiens fans are critical of the role that he plays on this team and/or still deny that this role is not needed.

Sign him up for next year.

sharks9 04-08-2012 10:22 PM

Would love to see him back on the 4th line next year with White and someone else! Great guy who can actually fight!

The n00b King 04-08-2012 10:23 PM

I will actually be upset if they don't bring this guy back.

He's everything you ask of that type of player AND he's well liked of his team mates.

Sign him!

Stjonnypopo 04-08-2012 10:49 PM

IMO he's everything Darche is and more. He's a fast skater for a tough guy, he skates hard, works hard, he hits and boy can he fight. He deserves the 600k or 700k we're gonna be giving to a bottom-line guy. Not to mention the chemistry he and White have!

Rscorpio 04-08-2012 10:51 PM

hope to see Moen, Staubitz, and White next season:yo:

Myron Gaines* 04-08-2012 10:51 PM

Staubitz is my 13th forward, he's earned it and it would balance the **** out of our 4th line. He can actually play.

Do it Julien.

HarlemsFinest 04-08-2012 11:04 PM

as small as a piece as he may be regarded, if he is not brought back, then it's a sign of management still be lost and ************ us about the future. although i'm confident they know what to do this time around.

MathMan 04-08-2012 11:15 PM

Good, likable, guy. Hope to never see him in a Habs jersey again. Just not close to NHL caliber.

If he's back, I think we should be worried about the next GM putting sentimentality ahead of winning.

Player 61 04-08-2012 11:17 PM

I'd keep him, it's an easy guy to carry. In the little time he spent up North, he proved that he's willing to fight with/For us. And we will need guys like that for Boston.

Et le But 04-09-2012 12:46 AM

Glad to see the team help him out like that, that sort of team spirit can help turn things around.

Really wouldn't be upset at all if he's brought back as a 13th forward, he was better than I was expecting. Decent fighter and not a complete liability out there, knows his role and plays a physical game within his ability. He doesn't try to get himself in trouble out there. Seems to be well liked too.

You can't buy Spirit, I'm sure the guy would be more than happy to play 42-65 games on the 4th. You never know when that kinda help comes in handy. It's nice to have it close.,just in case.

Gabe84 04-09-2012 01:11 AM

I'm really not fond of enforcers, especially since the Laraque debacle.

But Staubitz isn't detrimental out there. He's an honest player, without any great perks, but without any big flaws.

And while he isn't the best fighter, at least he fights. Now, don't get me wrong. I hate fighting in hockey. But until it will be banned, I do agree that having a guy like Staubitz on the team may help. And even if fighting was banned, Staubitz would still be good enough for the fourth line. He throws the body and plays rough.

I wouldn't mind having Dumont back either. Perfect linemate for a guy like Staubitz. Well... I'll admit we haven't seen much from Gabriel Dumont, but if given more time and more responsabilities, I feel he could become another Lapierre, which is a good thing in my mind.

No not even for a tough guy but I can live with that because he does everything he can to protect his teammates and he's actually a good middle-weight fighter. Got my vote to bring him back and I'll have a bowl of crow thinking he'd be completely useless.

Dekar 04-09-2012 01:33 AM

A tough guy who can play half-decent hockey? These kinds of guys are invaluable on a team. Sign him!

Redux91 04-09-2012 01:38 AM

The guy can become our own cooler, funnier shawn thornton, and id TAKE that

lol no dude...

you may hate 20-minute-mathieu but he is a way better hockey player than staubitz. call me when darche goes a year without a goal...

that said, Et Le But said it well: i did like staubitz, he performed his role well, he's cheap, the guys like him, bring him back!

Not against a team like Boston-Philly, gotta remember were in the East. That means you need to intimidate sometimes...well, sometimes. & that's a dozen important games right there!

68 04-09-2012 01:54 AM

If I was the GM the first guy I would re-sign is this guy. It's a sign of respect for these guys who have a tough job and sacrifice their face for the team.

And he would be easy to sign. 600K 2-way 1 year, take it or leave it.
