Game of the season?

Regular season is over, and that means a bunch of hindsight threads. This is one of them.

Last season, we had a number of I DON'T BELIEVE IT games. The most notable were the overtime win in Pitt, and the comeback against Boston.

So this year, with all of our wins (and we had the most without the shootout), which was the best?

A few of my favorites are the comeback win in the Winter Classic, Callahan's hat-trick vs the Flyers, the absolute physical beatdown in Toronto, and the season sparkplug win over the Sharks.

Maybe I'll add a poll once we have a few options

mti79 04-08-2012 10:54 PM

beating the Canucks 4-0.
The OT game vs Calgary that we won at the end.
Richards beating Phoenix with 0.1 seconds left.
The 1-0 Shootout victory over Buffalo (epic game)

FromTheSide 04-08-2012 10:58 PM

There's a bunch of obvious choices here (like richards with 0.1 left in phoenix or McDonaugh scoring with half a second left in calgary)

But my honorable mention goes to the 3-2 OT win against buffalo where cally dangled kaleta and roofed that **** on miller. Great OT winner.

PPS - Honorable mention #2 was vs detroit where cally won it in OT on his birthday

A lot of great wins; the Winter Classic just for all the memorable moments like Rupp's Salute, Richards's Goal, and Henrik stopping Briere.

Any of the Flyers games. The Devils game before the Winter Classic with Hagelin's shorty and the depleted D.

I really enjoyed the win over Tampa in OT with Richards getting GWG.

The Islanders game early in the season at Nassau with...Richards getting the GWG.

I think the 4-0 victory in Vancouver was the first sign that this team could be legit. Their last win in Vancouver was in October 1997 so breaking the winless streak was a nice feat, but shutting them out and scoring 4 goals in the 3rd was the icing on the cake. Hank was phenomenal in that game.

Winter Classic AINEC

The 4-0 win against Vancouver was the beginning of Hank's push for the Vezina.

Florida Ranger 04-08-2012 11:19 PM

There's a few and the biggest ones I think came in October and that's what brought this team together.

My favorite was that 4-0 Lundsanity in Vancouver made me speechless.

Machinehead 04-08-2012 11:22 PM

In terms of excitement? Winter Classic AINEC.

In terms of satisfaction? Beating the crap out of the Nashville Predators. That was probably our peak.

Hanke 04-08-2012 11:31 PM

Winter Classic. Alot of excitement that I forgot we had so many games after that, geeese it felt like the WC was so long ago..

Bob Richards 04-08-2012 11:32 PM

Even though the team wasn't that impressive, Hank's performance against Vancouver was legendary. One of the greatest goal tending performances I have ever seen.

Clowes Line 04-08-2012 11:39 PM

Having been there, the Winter Classic AINEC.

I agree. I'll cherish that forever. The looks I got from Philly fans on the subway will never escape my memory.

Besides the Winter Classic, one of the more memorable games for me was Gaborik's OT winner against Boston in late January. I was already heated from Ferrence's hit on McDonagh, and I remember screaming my lungs out once the puck hit the back of the net. One of the better games and most satisfying wins IMO.

AdamBanks99 04-09-2012 01:36 AM

the shutout of boston on valentine's day is definitely up there. especially seeing lundsanity trend on twitter in a matter of minutes during the third period.

Maybe not the best, but the 4-3 win against Crosby and the Penguins in November was a HUGE game at the time. After that game was probably the first time I thought we had a shot to win the East

Dangleberry 04-09-2012 05:34 AM

Coming back from 2-0 in the Winter Classic, pretty nerve wrecking game. Watching Hank come up with that big save on the penalty shot.

Rangers Fail 04-09-2012 08:41 AM

Winter Classic.

HM to:
Vancouver game
Calgary game
3-0 Boston game
4-2 Islanders game (Richards GWG)
0-0 Buffalo game

Dallas game.

Yeah, when you beat your opponent (division rival to boot) and the league on a nationally televised road game that was built up all season long, denying a penalty shot with practically no time left on the clock to seal it...well that's hard to beat.

JimmyStart* 04-09-2012 01:30 PM

Think I gotta say Winter classic no game drove me nuts like that one did. it was on par with our Pitt game last year especially the horrifically biased officiating combined with insane perserverance and ultimately, the win.

EpicDing 04-09-2012 01:42 PM

4-3 SO loss at the Coliseum. We lost, but it was a great game and the only one I went to this season.
