2012 NHL Entry Draft Talk 9.0

Edmonton has a motherload of talented forwards. Absolutely nothing on the blueline. Yakupov is the BPA, but Murray would definitely be more useful for the Oilers.

Although I think Columbus can make more interesting offers, Habs do stand a chance into making a swap along with a little bonus.

1st overall (+???) for 3rd overall + ???

How about...

1st for 3rd + Beaulieu

icerocket 04-10-2012 08:10 PM

How about Oil draft Yakupov and just don't give a ****?

That'd actually be pretty funny.

Lafleurs Guy 04-10-2012 08:14 PM

I don't see why Edmonton wouldn't just draft this guy and start trading some of those other young forwards (Not including the big 3) for blueliners now. Hell, they could even start trading draft picks after this year as they'll be stacked for a long time.

I wouldn't trade the 1st overall. Makes no sense esp when everyone is saying that he's miles ahead of everyone else.

Their games would finish by a minimum of 5 goals each side

Or they draft Yakupov, wait and see, then either trade Yakupov for a defenseman or trade another player like Hemsky.

Or they draft Yakupov and trade one of their other young forwards for defensive help..

Oh no, fun hockey to watch!

Let them re-create 80s Oiler hockey.

Yup, they can trade a guy like Hemsky for a young blueliner. Makes a lot of sense because they can keep Yak with the big 3 and grow a great team out there.

I have no confidence in Steve Tambelini's abilities as a GM though, so I'm sure he'll find a way to screw it up.

Quarantesix 04-10-2012 08:20 PM

draft Yakupov

trade MPS,Gagner,Hemsky for D-men?

Hall-RNH-Yakupov....WOW

jwolf 04-10-2012 08:26 PM

If they are looking to trade their pick, Toronto is probably the best dance partner. Dropping from 1st to 5th isn't that far to fall and still allows them to pick the stud D they need.

And I can see Burke dangle Schenn and the 5 spot for 1st.

habitue* 04-10-2012 08:27 PM

If i was habs GM, I would like to make a trade for Hall...

Habs 1st pick + ????

Bring_Bak_Damphousse 04-10-2012 08:27 PM

I could see Edmonton moving down a couple spots, but if I'm the Habs I keep Beaulieu and the 3rd. I'd be pretty happy with Forsberg, Galchenyuk, or Murray.

Tambellini might be a bad GM, but he's not Millbury bad! Don't think he entertains dealing Hall.

snakeye 04-10-2012 08:30 PM

To EDM: 3rd overall + Tinordi
To MTL: 1st overall

I am now seriously nervous about losing Galchenyuk.

CBJ still might take Murray, and Grigorenko isn't a bad "consolation" prize

Mathradio 04-10-2012 08:41 PM

How well can Forsberg play C?

I don't like Grigorenko's skating, nor his much "talked-about" poor work ethic. His personality or poor work ethic won't mesh well with the high demand of hockey-mecca-city-Montreal.

Galchenyuk was badly injured this year, you have to wonder if this injury/setback will have an effect on his future. Then again, I'm just speculating.

Forsberg would be my automatic choice if he were a centre, but he's a leftwing. Do we need a leftwing more than a defenseman?

I think Murray is the best choice. He's been compared to Niedermayer. I know many want a flashy forward, but defensemen like Murray are true ackbones to dynasties.

Obviously, picking at third, Murray could already be taken at first or second overall. In that scenario, you have to go with the best player available.

If we want to be safe we go Murray or Forsberg.
Murray would be a stabilizing defenseman and is not really in the mold of anyone we have in the system, except for maybe Ellis. But Ellis would be the 6th D-man and Murray would be the 2nd.
Forsberg would be like having another Pacioretty with better hands, in my opinion.

If we want to go for the homerun, then it's Grigorenko or Galchenyuk.

I would take Murray/Forsberg over Grigorenko.

Ubercron9000 04-10-2012 08:46 PM

Ive heard discussion on the previous thread that trading subban because he is not well liked or a trouble maker type. I really hope not. I hope his team mates do like him because if they dont that can cause a lot of friction and destabalize the lockeroom.

If he really is a cancer Id trade him. Try and fleece edmonton because they want to win now. They need a defensemen, PK is young and excellent player.

I thought a 1st and perhaps a 2nd for pk or 1st and MPS for PK. Could be PK for just 1st overall but again we can try to fleece them hard with that extra peice that may help us. lol

Le CH 04-10-2012 08:47 PM

I don't see CBJ picking Murray... they need to sell tickets and picking a defenceman like Murray doesn't seem like the "sexy" pick they would be looking for. I expect Yakupov and Grigs to go 1-2. What does Timmins do with those two off the board? I'm not crazy about picking defenceman in the top three so I'd go either Galchenyuk or Forsberg but Gally would be my prefered pick.

Beakermania* 04-10-2012 08:48 PM

Galchenyuk is our pick, don't worry boys. This changes nothing.

I really think TT will take Galchenyuk if he is still available.

I do think Columbus will take Galchenyuk. If Nash is traded, that possibility is become much higher.
