Umberger had eight goals and six assists as the Phantoms went 13-1-0-0 in November.

Yeah, but the Rangers opted not to sign him. Thank them first.

Then as with all UFAs, shouldn't you simply thank Clarke for buying the player?

There are a grand total of 3 players aquired by free agency on the roster. Roenick, Knuble, and Stevenson. Last year it was two, Roenick and Hackett. Before that it was only Roenick.

As I understand it, the Flyers werent the only organization willing to pay him the rookie maximum, which is what he got. So, presumably he chose Philly due to intangibles (such as being close to home), for reasons other than just money.

Umberger now leads all AHL rookies in scoring. :handclap:

Umberger's been an excellent player. The question is, when he makes the big club, will it be as a winger or will it be as a center? I think his size would be suitable on the wing. I could see a future line of Eager (the banger and defensive conscience of the line), Richards (the often under rated playmaker and puck demon) and Umberger (the goal scorer who has improved his defensive play). I'm really liking the future. The other nice thing about that line is that you can flip Umberger and Richards if need be as well, depending on the situation. It's a pretty good go......now, don't trade any of those prospects!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to see a Gagne-Carter-Umberger line myself
