KINGS continue to chase Pacific Crown, in face-off against the CANUCKS tonight.

That’s going to be key for us, if we want to be successful against these guys. If we give them opportunities, they’re going to capitalize.’’ (on the game…) “For us, we’ve got big, fast forwards and we’re trying to get the most out of our speed. They’ve got some bigger defensemen, so we try to get in and be physical and make it hard on their guys. I think we did a pretty good job overall on their top guys, just being hard on them. That goes a long way. (on Mike Richards …) He’s been known, throughout his career, to play big in big games. I think he showed that last night. Playing against Mike, even going back to when we played against each other (when Richards was in Philadelphia), he’s not a fun guy to play against. He has a little bit of that `rat’ mentality, but he also has that skill, that killer instinct. … You look back, throughout his career, and he’s not the biggest guy but he’s pretty physical and he delivers some big-time hits."

The stick wasn’t working too well tonight, so it’s a good thing the skate was.’’ (on the game…) “It was good. We came out with a good start. With a lot of penalties there, it kind of messed up the flow of the game a little bit. I thought we were up and down throughout the game. In the third, we kind of sat back a bit, but we got the job done and we still know that we’ve got better.’’ (on whether some players’ playoff experience helped in the game…) “I think that’s playoff hockey. You can’t get frustrated. You can play a great game and you go into the last minute tied. That’s just the way playoff hockey goes. Obviously Mike and I have played in the playoffs, but we have guys who have won, who have gone far in the playoffs too. There’s a lot of experience in this room, and that definitely helps."

We got lucky. It hit me and ended up on my stick. I made a bad pass and it somehow ended up in the net. It was a lucky break but we’ll take it.’’ (on the game…) “We played well. Our power play still needs to be better, because it’s going to be a crucial part of the series. It’s something we have to work on, but overall I thought we played well. We got pucks in deep. We didn’t do anything special except just get the puck in deep and try to make them make mistakes and control the game as much as possible.’’ (on his goal…) “I think it’s a tough play for goaltenders to read that, and stay with the stick on the ice and kind of read back-door. Luckily, it got through, and it was nice to get that first power-play goal."

We had a lot of power-play opportunities, and when you get a lot of power plays like that and you don’t capitalize as much as you should, it’s one of those games that can get away.’’ (on his happiness at scoring such a big goal…) “Yeah, it was. Just any goal, actually.’’ (on the game…) “We earned this one. We can’t rest on our laurels now. There’s a lot more hockey to be played, and we know they’re going to come out even better in the next game.’’ (on whether he was surprised the puck came to him on the winning goal…) “I was more surprised it went in the net.’’ (on re-setting after the end of the regular season…) “The coaching staff, they’ve been on us for the last two months, and rightfully so. They’ve been mad at us, because there’s a lot of potential in this group. We did that. We took advantage of a couple penalties that they have to call and we scored goals.’’ (on the decision to move up Dustin Penner in the third period…) “We’re lucky to have four or five guys who can play two or three positions. We were just moving everybody around. It wasn’t that we moved him up. Guys were all over once we got down to 11 (forwards). We had to use everybody.’’ (on the Kings’ forecheck…) “We have to play that style of game. They are a little bit more high-end than us, and a little more experienced at it. That’s the kind of game we have to play, without giving something up odd-man. Hopefully we can try to do that again.’’ (on Kyle Clifford’s status…) “He didn’t come back. He’s out … It’s an upper-body injury and he’s out. You guys know how that works.” (Asked about who would replace Clifford in the lineup …) “I was talking to Bernie Nicholls this morning about it. He’s not quite game-ready.” (on not taking retaliatory penalties, post-whistle…) “We talked about that. We didn’t want to get in that position after whistles, and we have to continue to do that. That’s part of their game, and that’s a part of the game that we can’t get caught up in. We have to stay away from that.’’ (on Dustin Brown’s game…) “I thought he was a physical presence. He did a good job for us.’’ (on the special teams…) “Well, we scored one 5-on-3 and we didn’t score on the next one. In the playoffs, if you get 5-on-3s, you better score on 5-on-3s all the time. We were fortunate to not score on both, and win the game. Hey, for both teams, the best penalty-killers were the goalies."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Where does one watch hockey in London? Do you just stream it every time?

Edit: Do you watch here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_House ?

So excited to see our team play tonight.

The Canucks expected to win game 1. They are surprised by the way we played and how well we played against them and probably a little embarrassed about what their own team did. They are a strong team for a reason. They are going to bring it hard and be tough to beat.

BUT - if the Kings can bring the drive and level of compete that they did last game, I believe we still take them. They didn't just show the Nucks what they could offer, they showed themselves what they could do. Now it's just using that and fine tuning it in the right way.

I knew the Kings would be dangerous if they came into these games the way they needed to, but I'll admit, I had no idea it could be as good as last night. Playoff MR is glorious to watch. Thank god he is on our team. So many of our players stepped up and contributed.

We do that again tonight and this is going to be one hell of a series.

Go Kings Go !!!

Yeah15 04-13-2012 01:14 AM

If Quick and Richards play like they did on Wednesday night the Kings have a pretty damn good shot at going back to LA with a 2-0 lead. Richards was absolutely unreal. Anyone know if D. Sedin is going to be ready?

ru4reals 04-13-2012 01:14 AM

Please tell me Kevin Westgarth is not gonna play! I would much rather have Richardson on that fourth line!

I saw a post on our PGT that said he wasn't at the skate today but idk.

As far as I've read / seen on TV / seen on the Net, et ALL ...

NO - D. Sedin for Game #2, had a set-back when skating yesterday, still suffering post-concussion symptoms, headaches.

NO - B. Richardson for Game #2 still out from Appendectomy Surgery

Cruel11 04-13-2012 01:28 AM

Beautiful GDT!! :bow::bow:

Yeah, I just looked up the Canucks injury thread, seems like some fans believe there's no chance he plays in this round. Though some Vancouver reporter seems to believe that he'll be ready for game 3.

Live in the Now 04-13-2012 01:42 AM

This is the kind of game we have been begging to see the Kings win for years now. Establish that killer instinct and take a series lead back home boys.

Yep, this has got to be one of the biggest games for the Kings in forever, a win would be monumental heading back home.

Was thinking the same thing. They can't be happy with just a split, go for the kill tomorrow.

ReverseSweep 04-13-2012 02:03 AM

Need to really hurt these guys. I would like to see more players step up and into Burrows in game 2.

CNS 04-13-2012 02:26 AM

Must win. Sedin out. 1-0 lead. Take advantage. My gut tells me the Nucks are going to be much better so we better be too.

DefaultSharkie6 04-13-2012 02:35 AM

i hope you guys can squeak out win #2 and take it back to the staples center leading 2-0 good luck

Knight of the Realm 04-13-2012 02:36 AM

go kings go!

King Richards 04-13-2012 02:41 AM

I'm nervous about this game, expecting a big pushback from Vancouver. That said, I think we got in their heads and they are definitely feeling the heat now. If any one of Quick, Kopi, Richards has an outstanding individual effort, it may be enough on the back of our stellar team D to take this back to LA 2-0.

One of the bigger games in recent memory. Is it more of the same? Sit back on our heels. Or do we go for the throat.

These next 2 games define us. If they lose here they gotta come out big in game 3.

SuperAlmeida 04-13-2012 02:49 AM

You're the best Puck U :bow::bow:

I'm a little worried that they will target either Richards, Kopitar or Doughty! Weber didn't get a suspension last night. :amazed:

On the other hand, Vigneault said that he want them to decrease the amount of penalties.

I don't know if I'm going to take the chance on changing my avatar after the last game! Greene was a beast out there! :handclap: So if anyone want to use or claim the Richards one, you're welcome! I'll post it in the Avatar thread as well! ;)

SilverHaireDevil 04-13-2012 02:57 AM

well from the looks of a tweet by Cory Schneider they have their minds on Edmonton and not the upcoming game "Nobody cares about Edmonton, so nobody hates them" <-- made me laugh, if no one cares Cory, why you tweetin about us? Go Kings!!

Really?? Oh awesome, this is exactly the kind of distracting **** I was hoping they'd buy into.

What a ridiculous tweet anyway. Lots of people care about Edmonton obviously, their fanbase is huge and passionate. And they have good young players who don't embarrass themselves or the game.

jonrazor12 04-13-2012 03:50 AM

I have a good feeling about game 2....,

DocWest 04-13-2012 04:05 AM

The Canucks are going to play much smarter and the Kings have to be able to match that.
