Briere: "Lots of unreported injuries"

Seravalli tweet:

Danny Briere did a lot of hinting that there are mega injuries that the media does not know about: "I'm not going to talk about who was injured and who's gotten through a lot but I can tell you that there’s a lot of guys that have (made huge sacrifices) just for a spot to be in the line up, but the way everybody sacrificed… I've been here for 5 years and it was one of the experiences I might be the most proud of."
Hope nothing too major, and they heal up in the 5-6 days they have.

Bryz, Timonen, maybe Schenn (he was wincing a lot when he was on the bench today)

Bernie Parent 1974 04-22-2012 05:02 PM

keep them under wraps until the off season.

My guesses:

Bryzgalov is still struggling with his foot.
Jagr is nursing something minor - at his age, it's almost a given.
Timonen has something pretty serious (his time has been majorly limited when we've been able to do so, plus he almost always is targeted by the other team's fore-checkers and he looked shaken up after a hit a couple games ago).
Kubina is still working through the "upper body injury" that caused him to miss 7 games after we acquired him.
Grossmann is injured, as we all know.
JVR has played 6 or 7 minutes in the last two games - clearly not 100%.
Obviously, Bourdon and Meszaros are still out with serious injuries.
Pronger - duh.

It's the nature of the playoffs. Pittsburgh will make public their laundry list of injuries, as will the other eliminated teams. I'm not saying it's wrong, but it really is a war of attrition.

mirimon 04-22-2012 05:07 PM

Kubina is hurt. I don't think anyone is doubting that.

I didn't expect him to play like this was 2006, but he's better than this. In fact, before his injury break he was pretty decent for us. I'm fairly certain that he's playing even though he probably shouldn't.

Edid: I think 96 pretty much covered it.

Think I might add Simmonds to this list, he just hasn't been himself.

Thought Simmonds was surprisingly weak on the puck and didn't notice him banging too many bodies. I think he's hurt as well.

I think Kimmo has something seriously wrong, Ferraro commented on it today and he really notices that because he's between the benches.

wouldn't be surprised to hear that simmonds were hurt. he definitely has not been himself the last 3 games of the series. this break will be great for him as well as JVR and Timonen.

JDinkalage Morgoone 04-22-2012 05:28 PM

Bunch of warriors. Hopefully they can get some good rest between these series.

flyersfan018 04-22-2012 05:41 PM

Not surprising. Almost every team is dealing with injuries that no one knows about. That's part of the game.

Exactly. I'm glad that we finished this series off today so that we'll have an extra couple of days to allow our guys to recover a little bit. It's probably also good that the Bruins and Caps are going to seven games. Though, I hope the Caps win.

It's the playoffs. Of course players are playing through injuries

Pretty much. Just look at Crosby.

I'm just happy Giroux, Briere, and Coburn are healthy.

FreshPerspective 04-22-2012 05:50 PM

As long as people aren't playing with concussions....but this is no surprise. Wish they had finished these pukes off in Game 4 but suspect all the injuries caused it to go longer. If we were healthy we would have cruised by this team...

DrinkFightFlyers 04-22-2012 05:51 PM

Not surprising. I'd guess all 16 teams have a number of players battling through minor to major injuries. Happens every year.

cbenn314 04-22-2012 06:17 PM

Thats why I love this team, and it's roster. Depth, depth and more depth. Girioux becoming a star...but we aren't a one line team, and anyone at any point can get a goal.

Id take our depth over a star studded 1st line any day.

UsernameWasTaken 04-22-2012 06:57 PM

I hope no one is playing with a concussion :(
