Karri Ramo to Tampa?

Tampa are in need of a goalie, is ramo a good option? If so, what would they have to give up for him?

For those who don't know, Montreal Canadiens have his rights.

SoupNazi 04-23-2012 02:51 PM

I think they're looking for an established NHL goalie.

Nathan311 04-23-2012 02:51 PM

TB traded Ramo to the Habs for peanuts, and he has essentially proved nothing since being traded. Why would he be worth anything now?

Calgary has his rights. Traded that in the deal for Bourque.

Calgary has his rights. Was traded in the Cammy package.

Might want to know that the Flames have his rights through the Bourque/Cammaleri trade. I strongly doubt Feaster will move him.

Pretty much this. He was traded away from the Lightning for a reason. Why would they want him back when there are far better options in the FA market. Even Tik or Janus would be a better idea, although they are still a little ways away.

Man I saw Janus live at the World Jrs a few years ago, and he just played out of his mind. I really hope he pans out for you guys.

I remember that as well. Watching him play in the AHL this season, he looks like he's going to be an NHL goalie in the next 2 years.

I'd much rather go with Garon/Tokarski than have Ramo back.

gonzo11 04-23-2012 04:54 PM

I thought under the new CBA he is a UFA on July 1st

mikef18 04-23-2012 05:11 PM

I forgot about that cammy trade sorry. Since he got traded before season start of 2010, he's played two good seasons in the KHL, I would give him a try since he basically would cost nadda

He doesn't have an NHL contract right now, so there would be some cost in the contract (also can't see him coming back for a two-way deal).

Ramo is good backup to starter on weaker team. Tampa could find somebody out of UFA this quality cheaper than what it will cost to get Ramo out of KHL

I dont think it would cost a whole lot to get him out of the K, all reports say he wants to come back, but only if he gets a fair crack at being number one. He also seemed pretty happy at the prospect of comin to Calgary and playing with kipper, Kippers contract drops in $$ after this season and hes getting up there in age. Doubt Feaster would move him, looking like it will be Ramo and Irving going for the #1 spot within the next couple years.

Not sure if this thread is serious.

God I hope not.

stryfe604 04-23-2012 07:28 PM

Had him once, don't need him again.

LyricalLyricist 04-23-2012 10:13 PM

Ramo isn't gonna go to calgary as long as Kipper is there.

chasespace 04-23-2012 10:32 PM

Not sure if serious.

Besides, we already have another Euro goalie who tore up his league. His name is Riku Helenius.

i think kippers contract was build on irving and kipper sharing the reins in his final season, then kipper goes back over seas... so if it'd be kipper #1a and ramo #1B i think he'd be fine with it

then pull a ramo and irving 1a, 1b thing

I disagree, he has been absolutely phenomenal for Omsk these past three seasons, you really can't ask more from a goaltender who was not ready for a starting role at the best level in the world at an extremely young age(especially for a goalie). By all accounts he certainly has the ability to be a starting goaltender in the near future.

And that is where you are wrong. just because he did not want to come over and play behind a 23 year old Carey Price for the rest of his career, does not mean he would not consider the notion of backing up his idol for one season.

He couldn't manage a .900sv% in the AHL

neither could Tim Thomas in the IHL, what's your point? its strange how players develop with time, so weird.
