"Kent Forsberg and Anders Melinder have their opening roster finalized. The roster against Brynäs in Gavlerinken has a total of 10 players that have played in the NHL the last two seasons. Peter Forsberg will play on the top line with Fredrik Warg and Andreas Salomonsson. One of the defensive pairings include Mattias Timander and Pierre Hedin - number 3 and number 33.
Mora about the game - read "nästa match"."

You'll find the opening night roster here

!

there is a news thread in this forum that we will try to keep up to date. I don't know of any other message boards in English about the SEL though.

"
- We have played Brynäs earlier during preseason. At that time we had a clear lead, 3-1, but we let them in, in the game and and they tied it, which was the reason why we lost the tournament victory there. So there's revenge in it for us.

- We will have to be cautious with Brynäs' forwards, where many could score when you least expect it.
- For sure it has been a bit turbulent the last couple of days before we knew what roster we would have. We have been concentrating on what must be done. The insecurity has been there, now the task is to form a team that works well with all those big names.

- It is not enough to have a team with stars on paper, just look at the recent World Cup of Hockey.

- No injuries. Wennerberg is training after his shoulder injury.

An interview with the team captain Mikael Johansson who made his 15th season opener with Djurgården. He talked about how fun it will be when the real games begin, how uncertain the outcome of this season will be with all these players coming in and that he was looking forward to a good game against SSK with lot of spectators.

He also mentioned/warned that SSK have added some quality players like Tärnström, Hävelid, Stana and the Ferraro-twins.

Something that wasn´t mentioned in that article:
Peter Ferraro failed to score on a breakaway in the dying seconds of the last game, he went for the 5-hole but the finnish goalie Leinonen denied him. It would have been cool with 2 goals in the 1st game at home... :)

Thank you very much Kronblom!

That would have been sweet! I am just so happy that they are doing well over there.

It's a bit long, but if you have some free time I would appreciated any little bits you could translate for me.

I am assuming you are interested in the parts about Luoma.. judging by your username. Here are some freely translated parts from the article :)

Luoma arrived to Malmö this season after playing with Edmonton Oilers and their farmteam Toronto Roadrunners. Bla bla about his stats with the teams.

Luoma grew up in Finnish Jyväskylä. That is also where he started his career. Drafted by Edmonton Oilers 2002, but played mostly with their farmteam. Luoma is a heavy and solid defenseman who is also among Malmö's better scorers. Being of such a large stature he is a very strong skater. Mikko grew up together with another new player in Malmö - Miska Kangasniemi.

They have known each oter since Mikko was 10 years old.

Then they asked Luoma a couple of questions. (first he has to chose between two options)

Malmö or Jyväskylä - Jyväskylä
Swedish sauna or Finnish sauna - Finnish sauna
Victoria Silvstedt or Linda Lampelius - Victoria Silvstedt
Gyllene Tider or The Rasmus - The Rasmus
Foppa or Saku Koivu - Saku Koivu
Kenny Bräck or Kimi Räikkönen - Kimi Räikkönen
Percy Nilsson or Curre Lindström - Percy Nilsson
Ericsson or Nokia - Nokia
Astrid Lindgren or Tove Jansson - Astrid Lindgren

How do you like it in Malmö?
We like it a lot here in Malmö. We have also been in Köpenhamn (the Danish capital) and the towns feel very much a like. It is really nice here.

How good is the SEL?
Really good. Without a doubt the best league in Europa. I can't say if that is because there are so many NHLers here. I think it is both positive and negative. Positive because the crowd gets to see so many stars, but negative because so many juniors are left off the teams.

Thank you! It's just a coincidence we share the same name, but it feeds my ego in a strange way.

to sum it up

an week old article about Michael Ryder making his debut with Leksand and several comments about how the team will look like in a game played several days ago.
The coach says it is both good and bad that they have so many players to chose from in Leksand.

I can't really understand what could be interesting in this article, but if you are looking for something specific let me know :)

How do I let you know what i'm looking for?

Need some help from big Swedish League fans

Hi there;

I don't have an article that I need translated straight away, but was wondering if anyone has seen a Swedish article with players complaining about all of the NHL guys coming over to play and taking jobs. If so, could that be translated?

I'd really appreciate it. I'm heading to Sweden next week and am trying to learn as much about the league as possible.

Thanks,
Chris
